Police in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, said Wednesday they have arrested a 35-year-old male of Peruvian nationality on suspicion of abandoning the body of the six-year-old daughter of his common-law wife.
According to police, the girl's body was found naked, wrapped in a blanket, in a cooler box in the trunk of a car in the parking lot of the couple's apartment building at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Fuji TV reported. Police said the girl appeared to have been dead for more than a week. Street surveillance camera footage showed the car entering the parking lot on Tuesday morning.
The girl's mother, a 26-year-old Brazilian, is currently in hospital after giving birth. She told police that when the suspect came to visit her in hospital on Aug 20, he told her that her daughter wasn't moving. On Tuesday, she told hospital officials that her common-law husband may have killed her daughter. Hospital officials then contacted police and an investigation was launched.
Police said the suspect has admitted leaving the girl's body in the cooler in the car but has said nothing else. Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

So, I'd guess his wife is in hospital having his child? While she is hospital he killed her child? It sounds like something a wild animal would do.

I hate reading these stories about kids being killed by their mother's boyfriend or stepfather. It gives single mothers very little hope of finding good, safe love again.

Male bears are known for this type of behavior in an attempt to persuade the mother to mate with him. it's cruel and selfish, and i suspect the man's reason for killing the child is no better.
