A 40-year-old male instructor at the Saitama Prefectural Police Academy has been arrested on suspicion of trespassing in the apartment of a woman he did not know in Saitama City.
Police said the incident occurred in the first-floor apartment of the woman, who is in her 20s, at around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, TV Asahi reported.
According to police, the suspect, Naoto Yamamoto, entered the apartment through the unlocked front door and was asleep when police officers who responded to a 110 call from the woman, arrived.
Police said Yamamoto told them he had drunk a considerable amount of alcohol and didn’t know which apartment he went into.
The Saitama Prefectural Police released a statement saying, "We deeply apologize to the woman. We will provide thorough guidance and education and strive to prevent a recurrence of such incidents."

This explains the misconduct committed by the dozens of police officers we read on a weekly basis, it's a part of the training curriculum at the academy

Young Nihongin women must really feel safe?

Pray tell what guidance and education does a 40-year old police officer need to finally realize that it’s not a great idea to get so drunk you wander into a stranger’s apartment and fall asleep?

Instructor? Of what?

Sounds like a scene from 80s classic Police Academy.

As the headline and the article clearly say, he's an instructor at a prefectural police academy.
Presumably that means he teaches police cadets how to be police officers.

So the rot sets in with the useless Japanese police while they're being trained! What a joke they are.

So it is in the basic training? Makes sense.
Why would you NOT lock your door at night? And don't give me this "Japan is safe" BS.
NO they won't. This stuff happens often, by cops in Japan.
And will this guy, Naoto be fired? or brought back after a slap on the wrist?
