Police in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that might lead to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for killing an elderly couple late last year.
The bodies of Koichi Kobayashi, 77, and his wife Yoko, 67, were found on the second floor of their residence on the afternoon of Jan 1 this year by a relative who had come to wish them a happy new year.
Police said they been beaten about the head. There were no signs anyone had broken into the house, nor had the house been ransacked.
The couple were last seen alive at a supermarket on Dec 30, 2017. When an acquaintance visited them at around 7 p.m. on Dec 31, there was no response when he rang the door bell.
Police said the front door was locked and believe the killer escaped by going out a second floor window.

I wonder what percent of these cases actually find new witnesses after a year's time. I can't even remember strangers I saw yesterday let alone a year ago.

I Hope the person or persons responsible for these murders and caught.. Leave the elderly alone let them enjoy their remaining years. I do believe we all misspell words every now and then such as the word "Case or Cace" not strange just human error.

Well, they are starting to post all of this stuff in English! From my experience, there is almost certain to be a mistake there somewhere, I mean, I see them on English sites daily. Hope they catch the perpetrator(s).

Unfortunately, I totally disagree! In this digital age there is no excuse for spelling errors. It just shows laziness and a total lack of attention to detail from people who are supposed to be 'professional' sign makers. It is especially careless considering most Japanese study English for ten years or more and, obviously, didn't learn a flipping thing! They are just whipping the signs out and taking the money. There is something called 'spell check'. Perhaps you have heard of it?
This case is quite suspicious. Family members were the first choice, but have obviously been cleared. It would seem that it is just another random loon getting his (or her) jollies y murdering the defenceless.

Interesting that the headline of the investigation spells "case" properly, while the following given information is spelled incorrectly. This is serious, but the info. would have been taken differently if it were spelled "caca."
