Police in Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture, have confiscated the PC of an associate professor who was arrested on March 14 on suspicion of murdering a graduate student on March 12.
According to police, Yasunori Maezono, 42, an associate professor of environmental education at Fukui University's Graduate School of Education, is suspected of strangling to death 25-year-old Miwa Sugawara in her car while stopped on a road, TBS reported.
Initially, Maezono told police that Sugawara, who was studying under him at the university, called him on the morning of March 12 to report that her car was stuck in the snow and asked if he could come and help her. Later that day, Maezono drove Sugawara to a hospital and said that he had found her unconscious.
However, police said Monday that Maezono has hinted at his involvement in the woman's death. He was quoted by police as saying that Sugawara requested to be killed, TBS reported. "She said that she wanted to die, and then asked me to kill her," he told police.
Police confiscated Maezono's PC and smartphone to examine his correspondence with Sugawara.

Well he is married so that would be difficult. Supposedly the victim was friendly with his wife and family as well.

It would be rash to judge from only the circumstances reported as of now.

They prob had a relationship and it started to go sour. Not uncommon for a professor to date student or even for them to be living together.
