Obvously, they extracted a confession after consulting with the local priests, who questioned his ghost. Japanese methods, which foreigners can't understand. That's how the Japanese legal system works.

It is an important question, however, whether he first killed himself and then removed his parts, or removed them before killing himself. The second version would mean a molestation case for the world of the living, while the first would be a case for final judgement, which doesn't enter Japanese crime statistics.

Nevertheless, such a cruel suicide certainly requires balls to begin with.

This is rare, and normally associated with the acute phase of schizophrenia. There is perhaps a case per year worldwide, but it does happen and isn't as painful as people believe. Indeed this would be the case in a Western nation where the police have forensic experts and autopsies are a matter of course in all suspicious deaths.

Strange how society's mores can play a part. In the UK, suicide is considered "bad form" so the authorities will bend over backwards to say it is not suicide - "The deceased was depressed and told people he was going to hang himself. Was found in a locked room with the key in his pocket, hanging from a rafter by a kicked over chair. However no suicide note was found, so it's death by misadventure".

Recipe for a perfect murder; first dope your victim with stimulants then stabs him many times to the chest and stomach . Then chop off the manhood . Don't leave footprints. Kick the severed organ under the bed. The police will think it is suicide and you get off scott-free. Disclaimer: This recipe only applies in Japan and not any other parts of the world.

Suicide, huh? So....in whatever order, he managed to stab himself, sever his genitals, place them under the bed and place the knife in (presumably) another part of the room. This theory is, quite frankly, a load of bollocks. If the cops can't solve it, they need to get a private dick on the case.

I have heard about suicide cases when the victim killed himself with multiple stabs in the chest. Not that rare. Also, heard about cases when male victims severed their own genitals, more over, and sorry I am not going to make grisly comment, just be factual, I read about cases where criminals under captivity poked and removed their own eyeballs and ate them. Yes, extraordinary cases might happen. Sorry, for mentioning that, but the practice of self severing is reality and the above examples might be helpful judging a case. But, these cases happened uniquely, one by one.

I have never heard about simultaneously committing both, severing genitals and then stabbing himself this way. Considering the extraordinary physical stress, mind boggling pain and exhaustion and the inevitable instant physical weakening, including the time that this "operation" consumes, it is hard to believe he could do that alone.

Also, I have never heard, that the police and the law enforcement in general could ever dare come out with such an idiotic statement. Minimum, they should submit a detailed CSI report, including the analysis of hundreds of samples from the floor, carpet, prints, lost hair, small fallen pieces of dandruff on the floor, DNA test etc.

Even in a hit and run accident a troop of police officers are crawling on their knees searching for small fragments of paint or glass. Now according to this, next time a hit and run accident happens the police will say, as they didn't find any brake marks on the road and they can't rule out the victim hit himself.

It's fair for people to comment on the news that is released. It's the cops who should keep quiet until they have something concrete. They don't have a good reputation amongst Japanese people and seemingly crazy stuff like this won't help them build respect.

There are a lot of facts missing here, so let's not leap to conclusions, for example let's paint a different hypothetical scene with some additional details: " The man was found dead in his locked apartment with the deadbolt in place. His chest and stomach had numerous shallow knife cuts, with numerous scars and half-healed cuts across his torso, predominantly on his left side (the man was right handed). His severed genitalia were found under his bed. On his computer a DIY "extreme body modification" video was paused, and several dozen castration fetish videos were also on the computer."

If there's evidence like this then it's quite plausible for the police to investigate suicide by "misadventure". Of course it doesn't rule out an accomplice, but the sequencing of the wounds (determined by amount of blood loss from the lesser injuries since an arterial wound like castration would result in the person bleeding out very quickly).

I think people are leaping to conclusions here. Let the cops get on with their investigation. At least they're not doing their normal trick of going out, grabbing the first suspect and then ignoring everything else while they interrogate a confession out of him regardless of any evidence or the lack thereof.

Here's another version of what might of happened...

After taking a shower (hence being naked) I think he was planning to trim his bikini line before his super hot date later that evening. He slipped on the wet wooden floor in his room and fell awkwardly. In doing he accidentally sliced of his jewels.

Next he lay on the bed in double agony. Agony one for the pain of the injury and the sight of his jewels not being where they should be. Agony two knowing that his super hot date is over (as are all future hot dates)

Feeling totally depressed, he stabbed himself (several times) as a form of self inflicted punishment.

Bottom line, he had a rough day. RIP...

No way is this a suicide. According to the news this dude's junk was under the bed and the knife was in the other room. So, he detaches his junk, stabs himself more than once, and throws the knife clear across the room into the other room. The reasoning behind the case for suicide seems pretty weak. How about letting us know if the wounds appeared self-inflicted or not? Lack of bloody footprints or defensive wounds don't really add up to much.

Never mind that. Let me join in. The police might be praised for their attention to subtleties and deduction. They are definitely thinking outside the box to have considered the absence of bloody foot prints. But, what I find more compelling is the absence of the murderer standing right next to the guy. Case closed; the guy obviously just had mad skills.
