Maybe......they are rejecting the claim, so it won't harm trade or tourism.

I'm going to assume you are joking, knowing that Bangladesh has very little of either.

What it does have - in my opinion - is a sufferingly poor feudal state run by a handful of families who have sucked the wealth out of an impoverished people and who have sucked the aid taken from developed countries, including Japan, and used it for their own purposes. How many Bangladeshis from the rich families attend Oxbridge type universities in the UK?

It's a failed state ala Somalia, which means it is a breeding ground for religious extremists, in this case Islamic.

And these extremists, like those worldwide, have easy access to guns and weaponry and can be easily duped by the powers that are to kill people.

RIP Mr. Hoshi. I hope your killers - the actual killers AND their puppet masters, not some political scapegoats - are quickly found and brought to justice. Islamic style in this case.

I'm vehemently opposed to islamic terrorism and terrorism of any sort and want to see it stopped.

But I don't equate Islam with terrorism. Islam is another belief system, another among the hundreds possible that I choose not to believe in.

I understand there are Islamic terrorists. My opposition is to extremists willing to use violence, especially armed violence, to force their beliefs on anyone. I'm also opposed to states committing violence against their own people.

My point in saying 'found and brought to justice. Islamic style' was to say - hopefully - that the justice system used by the Bangladeshis should be used, hoping that justice in this case is meted out honestly and appropriately, and that Japan doesn't get involved martially there or anywhere outside of Japan.

****hopefully - Japan doesn't get involved martially there or anywhere outside of Japan.

Do you honestly fear that Japan would get martially involved in Bangladesh?

Japanese citizens have been killed in numerous countries (the US, Turkey, Australia, Egypt, New Zealand, the Philipines, Cambodia, France and so on) and it has never led to military involvement.

Let's keep our fears in perspective.

Trade yes but Bangladesh isn't exactly a tourist hotspot. I tried to go a few years ago but flights were limited and there are very few tourist spots there.

After googling about the country, found that for last two decades, Bangladesh economy has been growing consistently at 6% rate, having the foreign reserve second after India in south asia which is higher than Pakistan, export revenue, HDI already higher than Pakistan. Social development index such as hunger, Sanitation, school enrollment, life expectancy are higher than India. Only because of poor diplomacy the country is little-known to developed world and still perceived as ultra impoverished but not that much horrible in reality.

Kunio Hoshi was shot to death by unidentified assailants in northern Bangladesh on Saturday

Sad loss of life. Just goes to show that people's malicious "intent" kill each other are culprit. Not firearms.

Heh- I see nobody on this thread making such a fuss. Is not Hoshi's life equivalent to that of any other human being who was victimized by another human being's malice aforethought? Forget the manner in which caused death.
