Police in Wako, Saitama Prefecture, said Monday they are looking for two men believed to be involved in two cases of assault and robbery within three hours of each other.

According to police, the first incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Sunday. TBS reported that a 26-year-old man was walking along the street, when two men choked him and stole his wallet containing approximately 30,000 yen. About three hours later, a 30-year-old man was also choked by two men who stole his wallet.

The two assailants were described as being in their late teens or early 20s.

with this great description of the suspects it can only be a matter of time. Saitama cops are the best in the land, as we all know.

No problem finding two suspects known to the fuzz and matching the description in Saitama.

Ah, Saitama! Your reputation precedes you. By the description given just about every young man in Saitama is a suspect, except the two that were robbed, of course.

I think Saitama is SaiteiTama :-)

I'm vacationing in Tokyo at the end of this month. Just checked my itinerary to make sure there was no reason whatsoever to be in Saitama.

It seems like most of the crime reported here are Saitama then Chiba. Tokyo convenience stores just don't get robbed I guess.

Wow, Saitama is really in the news lately. Choking attack... that is something I have not heard yet. At least they pick on males... lets hope they run across a cage fighter or some such next time they try.

Then you will bill sorely disappointed to hear that the crime rate in Tokyo is virtually identical to that of Saitama.

And yet... Why is it that the crime section here on JT that reports crime throughout Japan as a whole can't seem to go a week without reporting a violent crime in Saitama? 10 pages-worth of articles related to Saitama when you search on the name in JT's database, and easily 75% of those articles are violent crimes. So unless you're willing to say 75% of all news stories about Tokyo are violent crime stories, I'm going to have to discount your argument.

Lol wait, are you seriously suggesting that Saitama has a much higher crime rate than Tokyo, because there are more stories (in YOUR)posted from Saitama than Tokyo? Have you considered the possibility that there may be other reasons why Saitama makes the headlines so often?

As I have written before, basing opinions simply off of articles on a news site is logically unsound. Look at the facts;the fact is that Saitama and Tokyo have virtually identical crime rates.

"with this great description of the suspects it can only be a matter of time. Saitama cops are the best in the land, as we all know." What kind of description are you looking for? Black hair, pants and a shirt? Both spoke Japanese during the assault?
