A 25-year-old police officer has been arrested on suspicion of disturbing the public peace after he allegedly groped a woman on a train in Tokyo, police said Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 9 p.m. Sunday on a train on the Odakyu Line between Tsurukawa and Shin-Yurigaoka stations. Sankei Shimbun reported that the officer, Kai Hayato, who lives in Hachioji, put his hand up the dress of a 29-year-old woman seated next to him.

The woman yelled at Hayato who was apprehended by station staff at Shin-Yurigaoka Station. Police quoted Hayato as saying he can’t remember the incident because he was drunk at the time.

Drunk and disorderly in a public place?

Isn’t officer Hayato meant to apprehend people like this?

How can women trust that the police will treat sexual assault seriously, when the police are so often being arrested for sexual assault?

Soon, without able police officers, gropers will have free hands.

Talking to ladies is best start, not opposite way round !
