Perhaps it could be said that what makes a really good cop is the ability to rise above common human urges and uphold the integrity of the uniform. Not everyone can do that though, and sometimes the responsibilities of law enforcement take a backseat to pure, unadulterated friskiness.
This was the case on Oct 28 last year, when a senior officer decided to lay it all on the line for some erotic video.
The incident occurred at the Nishiarai Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department when a suspect’s smartphone was being analyzed as evidence. Once the procedure was complete the 36-year-old officer on the case decided to take a bathroom break, with the phone still in hand.
Apparently a certain video or videos with sexual content caught his eye during the analysis, and using the privacy of the lavatory, he sent the content from the suspect’s phone to his own using the social media messaging app Line. That particular downloading method proved to be the officer’s undoing.
After the phone was returned to the suspect, he noticed the Line transfer that was made without his permission and reported it to the police. The ensuing investigation led back to the officer, who was reprimanded on Oct 9 this year. As punishment for tampering with evidence, his salary was to be docked 10 percent for the next three months.
However, as he was also facing criminal charges of “unauthorized computer access,” he voluntarily resigned on the spot. He also told the other officers that he did it “out of curiosity.”
Readers of the news were largely lenient on the actual crime but less so on the sloppy way he went about it.

True, given the plethora of data transfer methods available today, it’s hard to imagine a more incriminating way to send a video than LINE, which stamped his ID and time at the scene.
Maybe he should have used the “I was just borrowing the video” excuse as that’s been known to work sometimes.

What an idiot. There are a number of things he could have done without raising suspicion like taking a picture of the site, URL, etc or the video using his own phone and no one would have known. He should have been sent to prison just for being stupid.

@Strangerland - My point was he DID NOT NEED TO SEND the videos or photos and leave irrefutable evidence. He could have just used his own phone to take a photo or video of what was on the suspect's phone or gotten the site information, title, URL, or whatever without anyone knowing and gone home. There would be no transfer data so what he did would not have been found out by the suspect. As a case in point, I often use my smartphone camera to take a picture of a picture or of information that is on my old flip phone. No data transfer.

Mocheake-the article insinuates this was a video taken by the man’s phone. Not a website, but a homemade video, likely being intimate with his partner. There is no URL or website. The cop stole his private video.

@Badman -What you wrote about the video cannot be ascertained from the reading. Just look at the comments near the end of the story. The article also doesn't say whether it was a homemade video or one on a website and it doesn't detract from my point that the cop didn't have to transfer it. He could have used his phone to take a picture or a video of what he was viewing on the other phone among other alternatives. Strange? Maybe, but no one would have been the wiser.

Filming in the toilet a video that may be more than an hour long or that has an appealing sound? not exactly discreet, specially compared with a couple of minutes of electronic transfer. Not to talk about a huge downgrade of quality. It is not a realistic option except on very limited cases.

this paragraph certainly implies a video (most likely of private content) on the phone was transferred, not some site or url you can take a photo of--or as williom round mentioned--take a video of the entire footage with sound without arousing suspicions.
yes, the copper was an idiot. don't you also need to accept a friend request before transferring data via LINE? so he should have deleted the chat, unfriended himself on the guy's phone, and deleted any associated friend request messages.
or just hit up pornhub or avgle after his shift instead.
