Fukuoka Prefectural Police have referred a 33-year-old police sergeant from Iizuka City to prosecutors on suspicion of stealing seven items, including precious metals, from the homes of two women he was dating.

The officer, who resigned on Thursday, is accused of stealing about 50 items from the two women, and pawning them for 1,080,000 yen, Kyodo News reported. The most expensive items included a watch, taken from the home of a woman in her 30s between February and October last year, and a ring and necklace, stolen from the home of a woman in her 40s, between February and October last year.

The woman in her 40s contacted prefectural police after she discovered the theft.

Police quoted the suspect as saying, “I was having trouble making ends meet because I was wasting my time eating and drinking with my partner and friends.''

Whether in classroom/school or walking the 'beat', we don't need thieves 'serving' the public!

I see the word 'heinous' on JT so many times it makes me think the users of that word have very limited vocabulary. Look it up. Theft isn't heinous.

Another member of the old bill who has been up to no good. Severe punishment is required for betraying the public’s trust as well as his heinous crime.

What ? Instead of going round conning and stealing valuables from more unsuspecting women ?

That's some mitigation statement he's come up with there......

He's certainly gonna be "having trouble making ends meet" now with his new job working at the ¥100 shop...

I kinda have to agree. I don’t know peoples nationality but I sometimes think the Americans over hyperbole everything. Heinous. Terror, Terrorism, statutory RAPE. I guess todays media have to push the envelope to get noticed.

because I was wasting my time eating and drinking with my partner and friends

again, this is the calibre of people who join the force here. Don’t have any idea about your future after you graduate? Join the police. Not qualified enough to become a salaryman? Join the police. Too lazy to put in the ridiculous amount of hours of study at high school/university? Join the police.

Idiot. Yes, you were wasting your time. But more importantly they were wasting time hanging out with you.

Police quoted the suspect

and by suspect, they meant co-worker

"Hello police, some guy just robbed me. You probably know him too. He's a cop."

How did he manage to get two broads? He must either be really slick or they must be morons as well.

What a bad excuse to steal from others than correct your lifestyle.

So he is not arrested for committing crimes? Because he is a policeman, he is above law? He resigned and case closed?

Why is this news? He hasn’t been arrested and Japanese prosecutors throw out most of the cases that are dropped on their desks anyway unless it’s a slam dunk.
