Police in Ichikawa City are looking for a man believed to be about 60 years old after an 80-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman were attacked with a spray and a pungent liquid on Sunday and Monday.

The 80-year-old woman was visiting Katsushika Hachimangu shrine on Sunday when she was suddenly sprayed in the face by a man at about 12.30 p.m. The man then took off on his bicycle. It is not clear what the woman was sprayed with but the injury to her right eye is expected to take a month to heal, police said.

The 65-year-old woman was walking up some steps near the north exit of Sugano station on the Keisei line – about 500 meters from the shrine - on Monday at about 2.30 p.m., when a man walking down the steps suddenly threw a cup full of pungent liquid at her face, and ran off. The woman was taken to hospital after suffering burns to the right side of her face that are expected to take a week to heal.

The man was described as about 60 years old, 160–170 centimeters tall and was wearing a white short-sleeve collared shirt.

Well we now know that not only can't the ichikawa police catch a barefoot man but they can't catch a old man... Guess the police near the station were all too busy taking pics of young women like the one in osaka. Come on Japanese people. Grow some nads, get the stupid laws and system changed. Us gaijin can only sit and complain and then be blamed for the crimes by rightwing idiots like ishihara when it's the sheeps job to change the shepard.

Where were all the other people? Didn't anyone see this guy or take action? What a coward.

As you may have heard from other posts, people are not allowed to be good samaritans in Japan. You may become liable for too many things.

Well, maybe not "phyche." But it sure sounds psycho. And I'll third the sentiment: What an unmitigated coward.

What's with all the weird assault methods here recently - first the umbrella guy, now the mildly acidic liquid guy. It's like Monty Python over here. Next week's headline - Husband assault wife with raw fish slap to the face!
