Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman from Nara following the murder in Kyoto of a woman in her 20s, with whom they believe she was acquainted.
According to TV news reports, the deceased, who has been identified as Masumi Fukuda, was killed at her apartment after arriving home from work on July 21 some time after 1 a.m. Police say she was asphyxiated with a bath towel and that she had sustained several deep stab wounds to her chest. Given the violent nature of the crime, police say they are eager to talk to anyone who may have held a grudge against the girl.
The woman arrested by police is believed to have been dating a man who works at the same restaurant as Fukuda. Police said they are currently treating her as their prime suspect, as they believe the women may have become embroiled in a argument over the man.© Japan Today
