Police in Izumiotsu, Osaka Prefecture, said on Wednesday they were questioning the 38-year-old daughter of a 71-year-old woman who was found dead in a hotel room.

Police said they received an emergency phone call at around 5 p.m. Tuesday from a woman saying that her mother had died in the hotel where they were staying, Kyodo News reported. The mother, who was in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest, was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said her second-oldest daughter, who was in the hotel room when they arrived, told them that she had beaten her mother with a plastic bottle and jar during an argument.

According to police reports, the deceased woman has been identified as Ryoko Horio from Osaka Prefecture’s Kishiwada City. She was at the hotel to meet her two daughters, including her third daughter, 34, to discuss some family troubles. It was the third daughter who contacted the police.

Tragic.

I have lots of questions:

Any traumatism?

DNA checks?

Medical history?

Circunstancial evidence?

Cause of death?

Wow! Beating your mother to death and then letting your sister discover the body and call the police. Pretty diabolical.

The old plastic bottle and jar method!?

Perhaps the daughter who killed her mom didn't like the outcome of the argument being that she was left alone with her mom she decided to take matters in her own hands out of frustration and killed her mom while the other sisters left.

As nuts as they come. Utter madness! And yet stuff like this is happening with distressing frequency. It’s like the four Yorkshire men trying to one up one another, only this stuff is actually happening for real.

I find this very upsetting, how can family problems end up like this?

Beaten to death with a plastic bottle? Not likely.

But together with jar? Depends on size, material and, weight of the jar.

Yes, depending on the size, material, weight and the strength of the daughter and the severity of her anger against of her mother, the jar could and would kill an old woman as her mother was. RIP.

Hmm, No one can trust nowadays even blood to blood. Well, it's better to meet them in a public place.

You can choose ya friends but you can't choose your family.

The gender gap is interesting here. No information about work or accommodation status as usually attributed if they were men, when all involved in this case are women. Also the dimension is quite noticeable. Not a big news so far, although someone has been killed, the own mother. But if those involved are only or mostly males, let’s take those infamous chinese dragons for example, and only throw some beer glasses around at a restaurant, yes, that’s nationwide and main news on all channels and newspaper columns. Both cases are bad, no question, but the difference in how they are handled, is quite remarkable.
