Police in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested the husband of a woman whose body was found wrapped in a garbage bag at their apartment.
Police said the body was found on Sunday at around 6 p.m. and that the 70-year-old woman, Yasuko Takeuchi, had been dead for between 2 to 5 months, TV Asahi reported. Her 58-year-old husband, Kiyoshi Takeuchi had been missing for several days, police said.
The woman's body was found after Takeuchi's 61-year-old brother came to check up on the couple after they had been late on their rent payment. TV Asahi reported that there were no signs of external injuries on the woman's body.
Takeuchi was quoted by police as saying that his wife died of an illness in August after vomiting blood. He said he had no money to pay for a funeral.

There are so many of these cases where people are living with dead bodies in the houses. Totally creepy and disgusting.
