A 23-year-old man arrested in September for taking a photo up a woman's skirt in Bubaigawara Station, Fuchu, was a trainee police officer, it has been revealed.
According to police, the man -- a trainee at a police academy -- was caught taking the photo with his cell phone on Sept 19, Sankei Shimbun reported. A spokesperson said he was apprehended by station staff before being handed over to police.
The man reportedly confessed to the crime and was fined. Police said the man resigned from his post on the same day.
During questioning, he was quoted by police as saying that taking up-skirt photos is fun and that he couldn't help himself, Sankei reported© Japan Today
