Aichi police on Thursday arrested a 50-year-old prep school owner, who lives in Osaka, for selling child pornography through an online auction. Takashi Nakagawa, who runs a prep school in Higashi-Osaka City, was arrested for allegedly selling two photo albums for 19,000 yen to two men in April and May.
Nakagawa was quoted by police as saying the photo albums were from his private collection.

Sickening, he deserves the death penalty.
some14some
It is child pornography that deserves the death in Japan.

Good job police.

My God there seem to be a lot of skeletons in people's closets in this country

The phrase "from his private collection" is very icky as well. What type of 'photo album' is this? The type that Aunty Mabel would make unsuspecting guests go through over tea and scones? I can just see a similar scene with this chap:
"And this little one, well, her parents said they'd be delayed for a few hours at work, and I said "No problem! We have lots to keep us busy here". Oh, would you like another crumpet?"
Freakenese
Bury this guy deep, so he can't contact children anymore.

Why is there an obsession with young girls in Japan?
timorborder
A pedophile? How unusual in this country. And imagine, a cram school owner as well. Hope this rock spider is welcomed in prison (not).
medievaltimes
Of course we know there are pedophiles all over the world. We know that.
But Japan seems to have a thing for little girls more than other countries and its quite socially accepted. Go browse a magazine rack at a convenience store.
Whenever a story on pedophilia, bullying, yakuza or political corruption runs, someone is always quick to post the "Well, this happens in all countries."
Yes it does. But the point is there are many shades of gray between black and white.

So this one guy was caught by the police. Hip hip hooray! Why dont they now go down to the sleaze shops in Akihabara and other places and clear the child porn from the shelves and arrest and jail the owners of those shops? Od course, they wont do that . . .are they in cahoots with the yakuza, or something, and is this arrest merely play acting?
CavemanLawyer
Short, simple and totally devoid of any details. Just right to get everybody fired up. Would not want some little detail like they were all 17 or there were a couple "artistic" family pictures of kids in the bath mixed with clothed and perfectly normal pictures of kids to get in the way of a chance to incite moral rage.

@blvtzpk i agree when i read that sentence my stomach turned 0__0
Molenir
Its hard to defend this. Kiddy porn just turns my stomach. But I've said before, as long as they're not involved in making it, just possessing it...
Like I said, hard to defend, but it seems a slippery slope. People like rjd who apparently wants to kill the guy for merely possessing this material. And yes, I know the arguments, that people who make it, start out by looking at it. And I'd say the same thing is true of violent video games. Some people watch, in order to relieve their unacceptable tendencies. Others, use it to fuel them.
Hmm, nevermind, I can't defend this guy, don't want to either. Just hope his private collection of kiddy porn, wasn't stuff he made himself. If thats the case, then I'd go along with Rdj, and say hang him.
BBLeo
Agree with swome14some, for such people hanging is the only way to stop this dirt. You lock them up, when they come out, they will do it again over and over.
anonymouswoman
sick....so many like this guy in Japan
jonobugs
Just curious...what about the people he sold his 'private collection' to? Will they be questioned, or whatever as well? Or maybe there was no buyer...not really clear.
BlackFlag
fair enough to speculate either way. let me try..i doubt anyone would have bought artistic family photos or pornography of 17 year olds over the internet for 19,000 yen from someone's 'private collection'. still I could be wrong, and would be the last to say 'string him up'
dontpanic
"I've said before, as long as they're not involved in making it, just possessing it..."
Cant see any difference between looking at kiddy porn or making kiddy porn, one cant exist without the other. Wouldnt want these people killed as some seem to advocate but want to be sure theyre punished and far from anyones kids.
OgieDoggie
You mean they weren't a "SPECIAL" or "LIMITED" edition authographed Albums?
They were purchased by "two" men, could those have been two off duty policemen and they thought they had been ripped off (poor quality photos)so they turned him in is that what REALLY happened?
Not enough details in this report...like were any of the pictures memebers of the Prep School he owned? Did he have hidden cameras around the school? There's got to be more to this story!!!
MeanRingo
That is pretty funny that they don't mention the name of the prep school, which is information that actually could help a number of families.
WMD
disgusting. String him up
CavemanLawyer
This is one of the very few discussions where such a narrow, simplistic and totally unrealistic view could be commonly accepted or not commented on. I do not think this is subject much to the laws of supply and demand. I believe most of the producers would make the child porn anyway, or still act but just not film it. I doubt the viewers have much effect on the producers. Its not like there is a free market out there.
If you are finished with your emotional outburst, you might think on what stringing him will accomplish and what side effects it will produce.
I know a woman who told me a story of how she was pulled aside by a man who got her to pull her pants down for him. That was it, and off she went home, creeped out, but that was it. Sure the man should be punished, but if you make that and taking pictures executable offenses or high crimes, do you imagine the odds that my friend would have walked home alive went up or down? For all the accusations of Japan being soft on such crime, what I see is the the west has gone overboard since the 1970s and the children have suffered more for it.
nath
What the heck did "private collection" mean?
I think the police should skim through the rest of his collection... and see what turns up!
Most Japanese men I know are not like this... and this guy will more than likely "meat" some Yakuza in prison who know just what to do with a pedo!
Azrael
Caveman Lawyer, are you sure there is not a free market out there? Isn't the fact it exists the exact problem after all?
