Prep school student arrested for stabbing classmate


A 19-year-old male student at Sundai Prep School in Tokyo has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he stabbed a fellow classmate with a kitchen knife.

According to police, the incident occurred in a 2nd-floor study room at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the school in Kanda, Chiyoda Ward. The victim was able to make it down to the 1st floor where he was found by staff, NTV reported.

Police said the victim, 18, remained in a serious condition in hospital on Wednesday, with knife wounds to his neck and several other places on his body.

The two youths were acquaintances, but the suspect has so far given no motive for the attack.
