Rather than "boy" I would have written "teenage male prostitute". Hard to pose it as "abuse" when the "victim" has already set up an online payment system.

Not exact a unique phenomenon. I did not know there was a scene for male to male compensation dating in Japan, but should I really be surprised?

Am I the only one wondering how the police even found out about this?

There goes the headmaster's pension. Expensive liason.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Nearly $500 to sleep with a 58 year old, the kid knows how to charge too.

@Speed

I don't find it that offensive when all three are consenting participants without any coercion.

May be not in general, you'd be surprised by the number of young gay guys who were "initiated" by much older gay guys, but there is a serious public interest where one of the parties is a principal of an elementary school.

Where are the kids parents?

I'm guessing it can't be the first $500?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Pretty embarrassing for the principal and the other guy.

But the dude's 17 a borderline adult and is a willing teenage prostitute getting paid through his own volition through Line.

Yeah, it's illegal but I don't find it that offensive when all three are consenting participants without any coercion.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

A principal with some very dodgy principles. They should also investigate if he tried to assault elementary school kids at his school, too.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

All parties knew what was happening. The boys got no excuse and shouldn't be pitied at all

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Perverts and prostitutes.

Everyone loses (except the hooker)

@Mr Kingpling

Why would the comments be different ?

The "kid" is 17 and even though the law says something different, "kids" in this age are usually well aware of sexuality and stuff and he knew what he was doing. If a girl does the same she might be titled as a bitch but still most people wouldn't criticise the guys all to much I think

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Such people (who seek Kids for sex) should not be allowed to work in a position of responsibility over our Kids.... and that goes for both sides of the fence. It's a matter of Trust if anything else.

depending on what statutes apply in Osaka (presumably the 17 year-old's location) it might not have been illegal for the men to engage in sexual relations with him..... some places the legal age is 17, some 18. however, since they are all from different locations it's a probably considerably parlous situation. and then, prostitution is illegal if coitus takes place, but it seems that would be difficult to ascertain after the fact. the thing with the JH student however, is entirely different. as with so many stories here, information is thin, and we'll probably hear no more about this.

How many times have you read of something like this and it's teacher, priest, coach, scout master etc. It's all so obvious and audacious of them.

How many of them actually go into the professions because of their tendencies, and how many are "turned" by the access their jobs offer?

You'd have thought by now someone would have worked out some screening detector.

Christian priests and monks? (Not so sure pedo Buddhist priests are so common). Without a doubt chosen as a mask for deviant sexuality in my book.

Where's the line between homosexual and paedophiliac interest drawn these days?

Would not this be considered a statutory rape in the US given his age? It does not actually say what the charges are.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Strangerland

It's not 'immoral' earnings.

It's 'immoral earnings', a compound noun, not a moral judgement.

Try the grown ups version of the Oxford Dictionary.

I don't know, is this some sort of Americanism you are applying here - that any sex with someone under 18 (or 21?) is by definition "rape" - but if so, I strongly disagree; and, going further, I would consider it to be a highly unacceptable misapplication of the word and offensive to those who have actually been raped.

I used the word "hooker" with respect to this homosexual prostitute as a slight barb to those who commented here only a few days ago about teenage girl who was caught prostituting herself calling her a "hooker", by way of a condemning moral judgement, and inferring she got what she deserved etc etc.

(I forget the details of that story right now).

There is no evidence at all to suggest that this homosexual prostitute was forced, coerced or violated in anyway whatsoever. Not even circumstantial.

It appears that the encounter was consensual and that he initiated the contact having put himself up for sale. And it was just for the money. The article reports he advertized himself and was not being pimped out.

I think it is fair to presume not for the first time either.

It does not say what the charges are, perhaps it "corrupting a minor", however, in this case, it appears more like a teenage homosexual corrupting an adult.

Age of consent aside - if you knew that the head of your Child's Education institution was actively engaged in "sexual activities" with person's of your Child's age group... how would you feel ?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

since this male child/boy has taken money for said services, on this occasion and possibly many more occasions, has he declared his income to the tax office? will they be asking him questions about his tax returns?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

They have admitted to the charge, with Miyajima saying he could not contain his sexual desire

Every day millions of people contain their urges.

and that he thought indulging it would be all right if the act had not been discovered, according to the police

If being discovered makes the act not all right, the act was never all right.

classic!! made me laugh this morning

1 ( +1 / -0 )

how would you feel ?

I wouldn't. Its not my place to "feel" anything about what other people outside of my guardianship are doing so long as its not abusive. An example would be knowing that some guy is engaged in sexual activities with women of my wife's age group. Should I feel "something" then, as if that surely means he will be coming for my wife? What does it for me is signs of abuse. A story that he was abusing someone would make me have concerns. Proof that he was abusing someone would make me advocate his being tossed in a jail cell and "feel" like punching him. I don't see abuse here. I see a short-cited intellectually lazy law was violated. Age does not prove abuse. Abuse proves abuse. After all, girls can marry here at 16. So what sense does it make to say a 17 year old male cannot consent automatically?? It makes no sense at all!

Two men sexually together  / Two men and a boy sexually together …. That's really Nasty & Disgusting.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@pacificwest, I don't think they did much sleeping.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

There can be no consent because the 17 year old is legally a child. Japan’s Child Welfare Act defines a child as anyone below the age of 18 years.

Further, Osaka Prejectures age of consent for a male is 18.

There was no consent. Because there was no consent, the boy way raped.

That is the law. You may not like it, but you must comply with it. Or you risk losing your reputation and your job, and going to jail.

This is bloody disgusting.

The laws regarding consent here in Japan are conflicting and to many confusing. The age of "consent" is 13, however as noted, the child welfare laws state it at 19, and not to mention that each prefecture has different laws that supersede the national laws in these cases.

http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/age-of-consent-by-country/

Japan has complex laws around the age of consent that vary significantly across the country. There are three primary laws that define the age of consent: the Penal Code of Japan, the Juvenile Obscene Acts and the Civil Codes. Each of these set out different definitions of when sexual activity is acceptable, with some applying to the whole of Japan and others to specific prefectures (Japan is divided into 47 administrative jurisdictions).

The Penal Code of Japan was established in 1907 and sets the age of consent at 13. Any sexual activity with a person under this age is always considered to be statutory rape and can result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years. However, chapter 34 of the Children Welfare Act also forbids any act of 'fornication' with children (defined as anyone under 18 years of age).

The Juvenile Obscene Acts, which take precedence over the Penal Code, set out laws relating to the age of consent for specific prefectures. In some, sexual activity with anyone below the age of 15 is illegal, but in others the age of consent is as high as 18. In these prefectures, engaging in sexual activity with a person under the age of consent can lead to a prison sentence of up to five years, depending on the prefecture. Although rare, in some prefectures, even hugging or holding hands with someone underage can be illegal.

As in a spit roast?

I'm still intrigued whether it was two separate cases of prostitution, or both at the same time.

I like the idea of taxing the hooker on their immoral earnings.

Where does the law stand in such matters?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like the idea of taxing the hooker on their immoral earnings.

Prostitution is immoral?

That's a pretty strange moral code you suffer from.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@ Pacificwest, what is the difference between a prostitute pocketing loads of cash and not declaring it, against a electrician, plumber, cram school teacher, shop owner, or any other person who has a income thats not disclosed ? if any one who pockets loads of cash jobs and does not declare it to the tax office could/will be prosecuted for tax evasion.

@Strangerland

Prostitution is immoral? That's a pretty strange moral code you suffer from.

Isn't a child prostituting themselves to two men, including one old enough to be their grandfather, just a little immoral?

That's a pretty strange moral code you suffer from.

But in my case, it's not a moral code, it's a good understand of legal English.

"Immoral earnings" is not a moral judgement, it's a noun and the term, albeit perhaps an archaic one, for work that "transgresses accepted moral or legal rules".

Pedophile principal and prostitute teenager, a sad and sobering reality for parents.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

For all the many reasons others have stated, I could not care less and find this a complete waste of my tax yen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It takes two, or in this case three, to tango so...

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Isn't a child prostituting themselves to two men

What? There is no such thing, what are you talking about? You cannot hire a child prostitute, you can only rape a child. I hope you haven't been 'hiring' any child prostitutes.

But ignoring that, what you said was:

I like the idea of taxing the hooker on their immoral earnings.

You didn't say 'child prostitute, you talked about taxing prostitutes on 'immoral' earnings. I feel pity for you having to suffer this strange moral code.

Two men sexually together  / Two men and a boy sexually together …. That's really Nasty & Disgusting.

What's wrong with two men being together?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This kinda stuff goes on all the time with teachers/staff and students. Disgusting and will be quickly swept under the rug.

-3 ( +10 / -13 )

Despicable, immoral and disgusting. These men have outraged public decency. They should be put in prison for a long time. I hope the boy is OK.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Child abuse. No such thing as a child prostitute as children are legally unable to consent to sex.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

The men are gay and it's indecent for many that they would sexually play with a 17 year old person.

If he was 20, no one would mind lol.

I find it indecent (and disgusting) to have gay thoughts, but that it the natural "me" expressing.

Otherwise I don't care when people are consenting if not seeing it.
