Police in Tokyo have arrested a 52-year-old professional go player on suspicion of allegedly assaulting his wife.
Police said Sun Jin Chov is accused of beating his wife at their home on Sunday night, Kyodo News reported. According to the Japan Go Association (Nihon Ki-in) website, Cho is a Korean national who has achieved the highest ninth-dan rank in the two-player board game. He has also previously won the prestigious Honinbo tournament.
Police said Cho’s wife called 110, claiming she had been beaten by her husband. When police arrived at their house in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward, Cho admitted to punching his wife in the face.
Police said the victim suffered a bruise near her right eye.

Go figure. I always had the impression that these guys and women, who played these games professionally here, were laid back and unemotional. Guess not.

Does it matter if he’s a pro Go Player?
No one would even know what he looks like.
Just Go to jail, and we can all move on with our day.

Professional Go is very stressful. He should gone to the gym instead of ruining his career, and losing his family.

Good on the wife for calling the police. Years ago, men would get away with this abuse and not anymore.

One go player has been accused of domestic assault and the first comment is a "these guys and women" one?

There is a huge difference between a fight and abuse.

SK still has lots of hidden violence against women, sometimes not-so-hidden. It's a very intense, at times violent place.

Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
Hopefully, no Get Out Of Jail Free card for this wife beater.

Because that is all that matters.
No it isn't, because it's irrelevant.
The question is will he be prosecuted?

I always thought Go players were quiet peaceful types who would not say boo to a cat. I better cross over the road next time I see one.
DV is never acceptable.
