Prostitution ring operating out of Tokyo high-end apartments netted Y420 mil in 28 months

Police in Tokyo say a prostitution and massage services ring operating out of 12 apartments in high-end condos in Chiyoda Ward netted about 420 million yen over two years and four months.

According to police, two Chinese masseuses, aged 39 and 21, were arrested on June 21 for providing massages and sexual services in the apartments in Iwamotocho, Fuji TV reported. A man, who employed the women, has also been arrested.

Police said the two women worked for a company called Omnibus, which provides massage services, and which rented the apartments.

Police said the two women have admitted to the charges and quoted the 39-year-old woman as saying she got involved in the business because she needed the money.

Paying for an expensive massage, but giving away free things on the side..., from my understanding... is legal in Japan. Like playing pachinko, asking for a lipstick prize, going around the corner and giving it to a person sitting in a shack while getting lots of money to circumvent the rules.

And there were only two women doing these "services" or only two arrested, not to include the male?

A man, who employed the women, has also been arrested

Well, well, well, isn't that nice a "man" was arrested, what does that mean, let me take stab at this, his is JAPANESE, but  the MEDIA DOESNT WANT TO ANNOUNCE that kind of thing, apologies for the caps

Same ole same ole, Japanese run the show collect the cash, the foreign women make the headline & get deported......

Rise & repeat, what is wrong with this.......Japan NEVER deals wit what is WRONG woth all this

Carry on, see you next week, same story, same bat channel, same IGNORE Japans involvement in all this, been going on for decades......

A man, who employed the women, has also been arrested. " Employed" should that not read, there pimp? and what has happened to that money they and he earned? since all of the money goes into some ones back pocket, why are non of these people arrested on tax evasion? 420 million yen, how much tax should have been paid on that amount? if any other company dodged or evaded that amount that would be arrested.

Ive just been looking up what taxes should be applied, one of the tax brackets for the "self employed" or enterprise tax is 3-5% If your employed person paying income tax anything over 40. million yen is at 40% tax.

40% nearly half your income! What is the point of working, Half of it is for grumpy old men, who do nothing! It's no wonder people avoid tax. Bloody hell. Tax evasion, sex slavery are both crimes as being a politician in Japan unless mentally ill.

2 women, making 420 million yen... wow! And in just 2 years....

Cricky, here in Denmark that's the percentage of tax I pay. It is absolutely worth it - free schools, health care, etc. And I can still afford an apartment and three meals a day as a student!

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Here huge tax no matter the occupation no free schools, no free health no pension worth the cost of living, just a slush fund for those in power to spend as they will. Love to see the government books, never happen as transparency falls under the State Secrets Act.

"Police said the two women have admitted to the charges and quoted the 39-year-old woman as saying she got involved in the business because she needed the money.'

and Japan has a lot of thirsty Johns

I wonder why it is new for authorities. After 10:00pm you can see them outside of all the major stations in Tokyo. What's new in that !

5 ( +5 / -0 )

If they had just paid the taxes and took care of the cops things would have never come to light! So long as vaginal sex is not on the menu or given, it's not "illegal". That's how "fashion-health" and "soap-lands" manage to skirt the laws.

Odds are they got nailed for 1. Not paying taxes, and 2. Giving the customers "illegal" services, vaginal sex.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

This is news???

In the soapland delivery health paradise that is Japan, where blind eyes are turned by officials at almost every loitering-with-intent street, 2 Chinese women are outed???

Spmething missing here.

I don't ever remember reading a news story about a Japanese woman being arrested for "prostitution," unless they were underage.

How many of the customers have been rounded up? The story doesn't mention this, for some reason.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

That's a lot of sumthin' sumthin'. Just sayin'.

They should have paid tax and get license for legal brothel. The massage parlors running as illegal brothel are not new and they are doing in New Zealand, UK, Australia and other Western countries for long time. If there was not found sex slaves and then fine them and let them free.

if the women operate by their own will, get all the money, and get respect from society, then there is nothing wrong with prostitution.

Same ole same ole, Japanese run the show collect the cash, the foreign women make the headline & get deported......

Stop whining and making up your own facts. 3 people were arrested and if some are illegal immigrants and should be deported then that's what should happen.

@GW

As the story came from Fuji TV, a Japanese language, Japanese TV station for Japanese people in Japan, why would they have to define a man as Japanese?

It would help to have links to the original story so we can check what was said.

Many Chinese, Korean, Filippina, Thai, Russian "students" or "entertainers", and more, are happy to come to Japan to make big money in prostitution and be treated nicely. Better than at home. Many target foreigners in Japan as Japanese prostitutes won't accept them, e.g. US military in Okinawa.

(Some foreigners in Japan even claim that is dscrimination against them!)

They come on holiday, education or "entertainment" visas and go home with enough money to live for a year. It is well established system.

Equally, there is also bad trafficking involving Chinese, Korean and Japanese criminal groups, sometimes working together.

if the women operate by their own will, get all the money, and get respect from society, then there is nothing wrong with prostitution.

Still better to have an employer for regulatory purposes - that's an industry where sanitation and safeguards against diseases is quite important. As individuals they wouldn't likely keep themselves checked on a very regular basis.

What massage offered in a private apartment doesn't offer this service?
