A dead rabbit with its ears cut off was found on a street in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, police said.

According to police, at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, a passerby called 110 reporting the grisly find in the Natsumi area, Sankei Shimbun reported. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the rabbit which had its ears and other limbs chopped off.

Police checked with elementary schools nearby that own rabbits; however, none were missing.

I hope the police take this seriously and find the person who committed this crime. The profile of someone who does things like this suggests more ugliness down the road.

No hope for humanity

Even if it didn't progress, the torture and brutal slaying of this helpless and gentle animal is horrifying. This person should be locked up permanently. Permanently

Peace Out: "That is like saying that since people with terminal cancer die, then all people who die had terminal cancer."

It is NOT like that at all! I honestly don't know where you come up with your analogies sometimes. You are using syllogism, or Boolean logic. Saying that a person who is doing this kind of thing is going to graduate to killing people is based on the fact that most, if not all, serial killers (sociopaths) start out with doing this kind of things to animals and then elevate to people. It's fact. Suggesting that whomever did this is going to move on to human beings, as such, is not all that out there at all.

Saying it's akin to stating that all who die therefore died of terminal cancer is beyond ludicrous.

You obviously missed the point. His comment agreed with the fact that most serial killers start out killing animals. What you missed is that this doesn't mean that all those who kill animals will become serial killers.

It's the same as this: All police (in Japan) are Japanese. But this doesn't mean that all Japanese people will become police.

Now change the words: All serial killers started killing animals. But this doesn't mean that all who kill animals will become serial killers.

Cute or not, animal cruelty is unforgivable. I hope they find the sick lunatic and stick them in jail, where they can perhaps experience some abuse themselves and maybe think a little twice. I don't care if their excuse is mental illness or not. A bit extreme, I know, and I apologize, but this is becoming so tiring -- mutilated cats, deer shot with crossbows, rabbits tortured... why?

It's an odd thing to do, i mean both kill and remove the ears, hope the former happened first, if the same guy did both. This 6 and a half line article is so interesting on many levels. First of all this news is news. That's news itself. Ears chopped off. Now this one got me back to my thoughts on how the media can put thoughts in your head. Not removed, not cut off, not missing, not without ..... but 'chopped off'. Almost makes you believe there was someone to witness the 'chopping off'. By the way ears are NOT limbs. Not nitpicking, just a few thoughts.........

My blood is boiling, pick on someone your own size, poor animal! Catch him, name him shame him asap

This is absolutely disturbing. What kind of thing would do such a violent act to a gentle animal?! Who ever did this should be caned and executed. Someone with this kind of mind is better off not existing. Further, it is extremely shocking that this kind of act would occur in Japan. Japan is one of the safest countries in the world with tough weapons laws, a culture where if one commits an unacceptable act shame is brought to the entire family, an educated population and Koubans scattered around the local areas. Lets hope justice is achieved for the rabbit.

Starting out with animals is a guarantee that the psychopath will turn to humans.

My pet rabbit name Rabbit was in shock when watching the news with us yesterday.

Just because so many serial killers started out on animals DOES NOT mean those who kill animals always or even mostly graduate to killing people.

That is like saying that since people with terminal cancer die, then all people who die had terminal cancer.

No. Most people who kill animals never kill a human. Such people warrant attention and perhaps mental help, but leave your paranoia at home please.
