The Yakuza control the Kobe and Yokohama ports everyone knows that.
Chip Star
I didn't know that.

I wonder what will they do with all that nostril powder? Since it may be linked to the yakuza and they somewhat have their hand in the police syndicate, it is more likely that will get back from the police. One hand rubs the other.

I sometimes walk through Kobe Port on my lunch break. Think I'll steer clear for a week or two.

Must have had their best and brightest on this most puzzling of cases...!

That's quite the theory you have on this conspiracy. You should take it to the national media. I mean, if it's likely, we can't have 400kg of cocaine getting out into the public. You need to put a halt to this now.

"overseas", eh? Those pesky overseers.

Charlie has arrived but been detained at the port. 400kg is alot of marching poweder!

I used to work in both quite a lot, and I didn't know that. But I also didn't know there was such demand for cocaine in Japan.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

That's allot of blow. I am thinking that Japan was not the final destination here. And if it was Japan. Some Japanese/or other nationalities are having some serious fun in secret. I've never seen drugs anywhere in Japan. Ever! Maybe brought in to sell for the upcoming Olympics?

Kilogram cocaine really makes death penalty in some countries, not in Japan. That's why smugglers try to do it.

Local customs authorities and police believe someone tried to smuggle the cocaine from overseas by ship.
thanks captain obvious, who do you think is going to buy all that cocaine, Im predicting vast majority of it won't be used by gaijin
macv
i wanna know when the next shipment will be coming in - to assist the authorities of course
TheLongTermer

When I was in the service stationed in Orlando, FLA. I was on a roving security watch and me and my partner were alerted about a stash in a certain dorm room by a roommate. Visible from a window you could see that an occupant had several kilos of white lady coke on top of his color TV set. Needless to say, there was an intent to distribute this stuff as well. Court martial offenses as well as federal offenses which lead to prison terms.

400Kg of Coke. That Sinaloa reach is long.

So, here is my question. Did they just magically find the container all alone on the dock or something?
Before the shipment is offloaded isn't it common to have customs check the contents before it is actually offloaded? Meaning, if someone offloads a shipment of cocaine, then isn't the boat/captain that is offloading the cocaine instant suspect?
Chip Star
Japan was definitely the destination for this. Japanese drug addicts a live stimulants.

*Japanese drug users love

It's not economically viable to check every container in every shipment in busy ports like Kobe. Spot checks are conducted, but every container is not gone through.

400 kg of cocaine for a whole month? Over here, that would be considered a slow day.

Kobe Customs need to look at the BL that would clear up the ‘someone’!

The smugglers may have sent the cocaine to Kobe by mistake, possibly intending to deliver it to some other destination, the sources said without providing details.
Was it going to SK? NK?

According to Google results, the hundreds of tons of cocaine imported into the U.S.yearly is going for a years-stable street price of about USD150 per pure gram. According to the estimate here, about USD200 per pure gram on Japan's 通り. That is STREET PRICE. Import price in kg quantities would be considerably lower per unit weight. The USCG (coast guard) says it may stop a quarter of U.S. imports at best. I wonder how well the JCG(?) does with cocaine interdiction. And the detection of this shipment seemed, from the article, due to a mistake in shipping destination rather than direct interdiction efforts. How long do we spend enormous amounts of money to protect the markets of our Ethanol producers? Prohibition with criminal penalties does more and greater HARM to more people than ANY 'substance abuse' (other than alcohol) may do to users. And, in the entire Human World, no 'substance' does more harm to people than the very legal and highly encouraged ingestion of the toxic organic solvent Ethanol (inTOXICation). Whatever place we imagine 'intelligence' to have in Humanity's worth, 'rationality' is our least respected and rarest characteristic.

Sure, because if that coke were meant for Japan, it would mean a lot of Japanese people consume coke. We can't have people thinking that, can we?
