I am for Carlos and I am not going to be silent until all sides of the story of the Carlos are told in court. The Japanese have been most unfair to Carlos. my husband and me will not accept unfairness on Japanese soil. Because my husband is Japanese and I am a gaikokujin. We both hate unfairness and poor minded Japanese that are making good fair Japanese look so bad.

Oh my goodness, the ignorance just abounds here. (Though not all are deceived.) Ghosn wildly misused company funds for his own personal gain. He wildly under reported his personal income and he even went so far as to submit his stock exchange losses to Nissan for remittance. I think this an excellent example of why white collar crime is essentially pooh-poohed in the West. Westerners just simply can't believe it. The evil Saikawa has to be behind it all. Sorry to burst your bubble but Ghosn is a crook.

Only God knows what is happening in Mr. Ghosn's case. Feel like dirty laundry of all malicious will be dropped over Mr. Ghosn shoulders. This is the most sarcastic myth ever made. A large amount of bull s..t are processed with this soap opera.

'Democracy' indeed..

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Renault doesnt care about him, theyre just concerned about profit, French left their own to rot in prison, why couldnt they defend him or even extradite him back to France? just bowing to their cash cow Nissan..

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Media is a FOR PROFIT COMPANIES, so yes regardless, they will swindle/defame/destroy for clicks and ad revenue is their business streams. Investigative journalism died decades ago..the reality.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Le Figaro and the official Renault communication are French tabloids ?!

5 ( +7 / -2 )

As stated weddings can be claimed as a businss event/function if it is a public traded company/public figure/investors connected

This happens IN JAPAN AND THE WEST. I know this for a fact.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

It's funny how most who criticized Ghosn and ascribed him innocence are being pretty much silent, now that more and more of his misdeeds are being revealed.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Ok thats just French Tabloids which is useless as our local media.. well seeing all the fabricated nonsense about him on the media and zero questioning or financial statements from the CFO/ACCOUNTANTS/AUDITORS there is nothing

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

if you read French

No the documents are not public and have been handed over to the police.

Eppee

If so, please provide links to the documents online?.. as its a public trading company, this should all be made public for shareholders?

How do you know if what's said is true or not? You're just saying hai hai to whatever is thrown at you to read or see.. There's perhaps two sides to the story!? Usually is.. Again media is just companies for profit not charity..

Actually this has been pretty well documented by Renault during their recent internal audit.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

What nonsense. I have sympathy to NISSAN workers who may now lose their job if the company goes bankrupt. Howcan you justify his actions?

The question is, were his actions illegal?

I get the impression that articles Iike this are only trying to demonise him, giving the Japanese judiciary an excuse to continue to hold him.

Right now, it is Japanese law that is on trail, not Ghosn. And it is very disturbing.

Is the prosecutor trying to portray himself as Robin Hood?

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

I have a very important question, did none of Nissan employees or any of Renault employees attend these events ???. This is really getting childish, May I ask if at the Versailles event was Carlos also present with a pair of golden sock ???. and golden hair band that was not reported yet ???. This case is getting too personal & too silly because the truth is , no real firm evidence have really been found. That is why Nissan & Renault is still checking. Besides , all these reports are one sided and very unfair and of personal interests of salaryman attitudes in both companies. Stop wasting tax payers money and time, get on with the court case.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Let me guess, this elaborate wedding at the palace "gifted" to Carlos was also all a lie and part of a smear campaign by Nissan and Renault? Bye bye Carlos, you are definitely going to stay in jail now

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Interestingly enough his wedding is shown in his Manga:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%AB%E3%83%AB%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B4%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%E7%89%A9%E8%AA%9E%E2%80%95%E4%BC%81%E6%A5%AD%E5%86%8D%E7%94%9F%E3%81%AE%E7%AD%94%E3%81%8C%E3%81%93%E3%81%93%E3%81%AB%E3%81%82%E3%82%8B-%E5%AF%8C%E6%A8%AB-%E3%83%A8%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B3/dp/4093713812

What if the wedding was paid for or gifted by him or investors? As a paid event. A lot of events here in Japan are paid for as a company event, especially weddings.. Considering he is a public figure for a publicly trading company.

And again NO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS or Internal tax returns or statements from auditors. Where are those statements? Look to EVERY DETAIL prior to agreeing to the garbage thrown to the masses.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Tip of the iceberg. The corporate elite are rife with corruption, bribery and other wrongdoings.

Lock them up!

4 ( +9 / -5 )

B,b,but he saved Nissan and he's caught up in a grand conspiracy theory! Yeah right, now we find out he's been gifted French monarchical parties at the Versailles like a king. This criminal is exactly where he should be.

Well done Japan! It only took the goofy French half a year more to come to the same conclusion

5 ( +10 / -5 )

French are sellouts.. They claim to be a 'democracy' but we have violated every law in judicial proceedings, and now they're sliding out just to focus on profits and not for the defamation, they don't get Saikawa was behind the plot to break up Renault to begin with...

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Don't keep saying hai hai to our propaganda media, they shape peoples minds like they do in the west: character defamation, sensationalized non sense, bs hints. Doesn't sound familiar in the west? For example: WMD, Y2K, Bill Clinton avoiding Monica Lewinsky

7 ( +11 / -4 )

@Ganbare Japan!

What nonsense. I have sympathy to NISSAN workers who may now lose their job if the company goes bankrupt. Howcan you justify his actions?

LOL!

Have you heard of tongue-in-cheek humor / sarcasm?!

You need to re-read the comment by @Bullfighter and realize he was being sarcastic!!

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

This is all speculation, people who believe these fake tabloids aren't very bright.. Zero statements for internal tax revenue, CFO, accountants nothing, it's not fishy to those who don't get it yet? Fake News brainwashes public view and especially character defamation.

Look at the fine line, local media still babel about breaking up the 'foreign alliance' with Renault

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

@ Bullfighter

People commenting here need to show more sympathy for Ghosn.

What nonsense. I have sympathy to NISSAN workers who may now lose their job if the company goes bankrupt. Howcan you justify his actions?

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Lavish wedding fit for a King? Huge money gifts? While Nissan workers were struggling to get any payrise! Ghosn was a real “man of the people”... sure!! I bet its tough in prison he has to eat riceball not caviar every meal, and drink water not champagne!

6 ( +12 / -6 )

Here we go, more bs.. This is now beginning to be all about ratings and ad clicks for the local media here...

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

 more sympathy for Ghosn.

As a former Alexandre Dumas fan (when I was 8 !), I am sincerly happy that Carlitos got his Fersen marries Marie-Antoinette night, then his Varennes arrest in Haneda, and now his Bastille experience...

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Oh wow, Ghosn was misappropriating corporate funds far worse than anyone initially thought. Nail in the coffin I think. He is completely done now

7 ( +11 / -4 )

This is how I'm starting to look at it, GOSHN is in time served mode now, he's not getting out. No body ever in the whole history of man is completely 100% clean getting to the top, of course there's gonna be dirt. What I don't understand is WTF happens to your thinking when enormous amounts of money is apart of your lifestyle, 50,000 Euro's that's pennies on the dollar for someone knocking down big bucks like him? KECHI...

People go down for small stuff when you ratio it to what they are worth!

10 ( +11 / -1 )

I dunno. Were I only getting the equivalent of $340,000 per/week (calculated from Bloomberg data), I'd be very happy if one or more of the companies I headed helped pay for my wedding. Besides, if Ghosn didn't get the money it would only get wasted on the stockholders or the workers.

People commenting here need to show more sympathy for Ghosn. As fat cats go, he was below the poverty line.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

Renault should not be giving 2.3M Euros to Versailles. Couldn't find any link to historic place maintenance to their mission or vision statements, but these were in English. Considering that Renault is 15% government owned, as a French tax payer, I wouldn't be impressed. Nissan holds a 15% share in Renault, so the Nissan execs wouldn't be happy, either.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

I have said, from the outset, that Ghosn may well have committed misdeeds, particularly as it relates to using company assets / monies for personal gain.

And knowing what I know of Ghosn, it wouldn't surprise me.

If this did, in fact, happen, then that speaks volumes not only as to Ghosn's character / integrity, but also about the lack of proper checks and balances at both Nissan and Renault.

My issue with what has transpired is the absolute lack of due process in Japan as well as the patently obvious motivation behind what has Japan has done: to prevent a further integration of Nissan into Renault.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

I don't know France tax law - but recall I was once told that they taxed the implied value of benefits, so this one seems to fit that concept if it was a wedding reception - but it could also have doubled as a party for valued customers and suppliers.  One would need to look at the guest list.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Wait... Gives company money and get personal gift in exchange? How is that allowed?

10 ( +13 / -3 )

The irony is that while Saikawa is finger pointing everything to Ghosn, he's playing victim himself. It's only a matter of time before prosecutors turn around and spank this little snitch hard!

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

O.K. I have to admit I no loner understand what all the Ghosn investigations are about.

I suppose that's kind of the point.

So, here he basically used company money (again without knowledge or consent from accounting) to help Versailles rennovate, then they threw gifted party for him? Do Renault and Nissan just keep piles of cash in the CEO's office for....whatever?

Is that right? Dosen't that kind of thing happen all the time?

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Unfortunately, Ghosn is treated unfairly biased toward personal life.

-18 ( +1 / -19 )

That news is so yesterday

2 ( +11 / -9 )

After Ghosn, Nissan no longer willing to share a chairman with partner Renault, says source

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/02/07/business/corporate-business/ghosn-nissan-no-longer-willing-share-chairman-partner-renault-says-source/

The reason is becoming more obvious, ousted Ghosn and not sharing a chairman with Renault

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

They are not throwing him under the bus. They are doing their do diligence. Regardless of whether Ghosn is convicted or exonerated, they would be a fool not to cover themselves. If they don’t investigate, they would face intense scrutiny. The company also has to protect itself.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

So they are finally throwing him under the bus then.
