“a massive hunger for secrets and intellectual property.”

First guess : China, Second guess : Russia

China would be my guess too.

Every country does it, it is only news if it suggests China.

It must be that GW Bush found a new job. The lack of specifics and the overall threatening tone suggests that "terror" is doing the hacking. Otherwise it's just advertising for McAfee, and that would not be surprising.

Mcafee didn't name the country in their original report, but according to Bloomberg News it IS China. Maybe they're afraid of being hacked.

Mcafee is rubbish anyway.

Maybe they are one of the reasons why these attacks can happen, with their sub-par products that gets outperformed by just about every freeware security software out there.

China

China should just be completely disconnected from the internet - they only use it to steal and attack. Then they can run their own separate chinanet anyway they like.

Bad idea, melguy. The bad guys would still be able to spoof their way onto the internet, and Chinese citizens who might benefit from a peek at the rest of the world would lose out.

This will go on until the UN confronts China with proof in hand and consequences spelled out. Which means never, unfortunately.
