Police have arrested a 50-year-old restaurant manager on suspicion of stabbing a man and a woman on a street in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward.
According to police, Koichiro Murata stabbed a 20-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man at around 2 a.m. on Monday. TV Asahi quoted police as saying that Murata had dined with the couple on Sunday night and that they had gone back to his apartment afterwards.
Police said Murata was an acquaintance of the woman and that there had been some trouble between the three and that the man and woman left Murata's apartment. Police suspect Murata followed them and attacked them as they walked home.
Police said Murata apparently returned home before going on the run. He was arrested in Shinagawa on Monday night. A bloodied knife was found in the kitchen of his apartment.
Police said the two victims are in a stable condition.
Murata was quoted by police as saying he stabbed the couple but insisted he had no intent to seriously hurt them.

Any more sordid detail?

Soooo much more to this story than we are getting.

Why is the fact he was a restaurant manager relevant to the headline? Or, to the article, for that matter! I was expecting some crazed restaurant owner chasing the couple down for not paying, but it has nothing to do with any restaurant!

Thank goodness they survived. Now they can press charges and send this idiot to jail.

So confusing!!!!!!!!!
"Police said the two victims are in a stable condition" Murata was quoted by police as saying he stabbed the couple but insisted he didn’t mean to kill them". Perhaps he thought they were dead when he was arrested!

He probably wanted a threesome and they (or he) said no.

The heat must be making people crazy or is there something in the air nowadays.

Which raises the question - what intention did he have?

What wrong with today Japanese society? I don't understand why peoples have lack of tolerant and why crime is steady rising in Japan.

Why is it so many incidents like this in Japan lately? I hope this is not going to be the norm in Japan society. It is very sad to see Japan society is heading toward this way. What make Japan stand out to the rest of the world is that Japan is a very tolerant society. Old or new Japanese should embrace and reserve this beautiful culture.
