Police have arrested a 48-year old on under suspicion of killing a 67-year-old woman in a hit-and-run accident in Saitama Prefecture on Sunday.

Miharu Koga of Niiza was arrested for hitting Kayako Miyahara, who was riding her bicycle Sunday afternoon. Koga's daughter saw that the front windshield had spidered and called police.

When authorities arrived, Koga had reportedly gone to sleep after drinking alcohol. Police believe the woman had stopped the car, then suddenly accelerated forward when she hit Miyahara. Koga denies the charge.

Hopefully the keystones will charge this scumbag with what she did. Alcohol and Driving does not mix. Look at the consequences.

Saitama is back in the spotlight...lol!

Why is it always Saitama? Seriously. Saitama is like Japan's worst place to live, judging by crime reports.

Excuse me? What does this mean? It sounds like the bicyclist hit the car while the car was stopped at a stop sign, then the driver peeled out and squashed her.

In such a case we could call it murder, but gee, how dumb do you have to be to slam into a car stopped at stop sign with a bicycle?

the last sentence doesn't make sense to me. how can you hit something when your car is stopped? anyhow, the daughter turned her mum in. hmmm

What a nice daughter....

Well the daughter may have thought the windshield had been broken by someone. The police must have other evidence besides the windshield, like blood or hair on the car.

Still innocent under the force a confession out of her. 99/9% of the time it works.

Think she will ask for the video when questioning?

Maybe she will "refuse to answer questions on hit-and-run".

how a daughter can betray her mother?

how a daughter can betray her mother?

Interesting question. If your mother was responsible for the death of someone would you contact authorities? Or daughter? Or son? Or how about if your son was accused of abandoning the body. And you reported him.

Is it now betrayal to do the right thing?

That's a grossly unfair call. I'm sure you mean the towns along the route of the Takasaki line in Saitama are among worst places to live.

Hopefully the keystones will charge this scumbag

"scumbag" is kind of risking a libel case for someone who's not been convicted of anything. And "keystones" is boring, painful, racism. The Japanese cops are not perfect, not by a long way. But they do as well as the cops in most countries.

When authorities arrived, Koga had reportedly gone to sleep after drinking alcohol....well she probably needed a drink after drinking and driving, then hitting someone......

"Keystones" is inappropriate because the Keyston Cops never forced confessions out of people.

Hope she gets locked up for good. Poor woman on the bike. What troubles me the most in cases like this is that woman on bike may have lived had the driver acted responsibly, stopping and calling an ambulance, instead of speeding home to erase everything with alcohol. I suspect the daughter was aware of mom's drinking/driving problem and had had enough of it.

Good on her for calling the cops.

Why aren't there mass protests about this? Oh wait, there weren't any US military involved...
