School principal arrested for breaking into woman's apartment

A 59-year-old junior high school principal has been arrested for breaking into a woman's apartment in Tokyo's Adachi Ward, police said Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as Koji Kijima, principal of Komagata Junior High School in Taito Ward. Fuji TV reported that he is accused of following the woman, who is in her 20s, to her home from a nearby station at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. As soon as the woman entered her apartment, Kijima opened the door before she had a chance to lock it.

The woman screamed and a passerby came to the apartment entrance and subdued Kijima. The woman said she had never met Kijima before.

Kijima was quoted by police as saying he was drunk and that he followed the woman from the station because she was his type.

I'd like to have been at the next teachers' daily meeting and seen their faces.

all of you saying he won't get punished for this, how do you know? I don't ever seem to read about the sentencings in stories like this. Where do you get your information about the sentences from?

I wonder this same thing. I even questioned it in a post earlier in this thread, and ended up with a -4. Some people don't like it when you question their irrationality.

Very curious, all of you saying he won't get punished for this, how do you know? I don't ever seem to read about the sentencings in stories like this. Where do you get your information about the sentences from?

And when some days "they were drunk" they are stating the reason why they committed the action. They are not using it as an excuse to say "I'm not at fault."

Darn right drunk people know what they're doing. 602miko!

You should have told them that you don't remember anything.

Too late! He already told police why he was following her! That means he remembers.

Drunk people they know what they're doing.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Hey, at least he didn't say he was drunk and doesn't remember.

Demote him to custodian (wait that's too good for him).

Once again I say, Neanderthals still walk among us.

Um. School principal. Strangely enough, these days in Japan, the more their careers are solemn, the more sex offenses and such they tend to commit. Perhaps they should get a chance to let off steam in the right way once in a while.

It never ceases to amaze me how cops and teachers make these kinds of headlines in the crime section.

You and me both!

On the bright side... a job position just opened up!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Well, he got HALF the traditional excuse right. He needed to add "I don't remember anything" after saying he was drunk and bowing. Now he might just have to take a month of 10% less pay instead of getting off Scott free!

Why do posters here think he's gotten away with this?

His name has been published and he's been publicly shamed, he'll lose his job and most likely his hefty "taishokukin", just one year before he would have got it. Of course, his actual pension he won't lose because he's been paying into it for 35 years and he's still a citizen of Japan. Jail time is likely unrequired, given the circumstances, but he may yet do some of that too.

This cat dishonored his school and local board big time. It never ceases to amaze me how cops and teachers make these kinds of headlines in the crime section.

Are public sector pensions pervert-proof?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

he followed the woman from the station because she was his type

and logically, therefore, he could have her. That's his explanation.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Drunk, the Japanese wildcard play to explain everything.

Teachers...that's what they do. Do these people have issues before becoming a teacher or after?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Bye bye, career.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Of course there will be no stiff punishment

Whatever makes you think that?

So, I wonder what his intentions were? A cup of tea and a light conversation? Unlikely! One would like to think he will get some serious time in a cell for this, but he will likely do no time at all. Just a slap on the wrist. However, his teaching days and his pension should both be gone, at least! This is a very brazen and disturbing act showing tendencies of a serial rapist. Following a women home and breaking into her apartment is not the act of a rational human. The fact that he was drunk and unable to control himself should make the offense worse, and not an excuse. Lock him up!

Sadly here.....and this is "news"? More like a common occurrence, and just more proof that many of these "teachers" and "komuin" are hired for their test skills and not much more.

may be she was his 'former' student.
