School principal in Gunma arrested for taking photos in women's toilet

Police in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, said Monday that an elementary school principal has been arrested for taking photos in a women's toilet at the school.

Police said Nobuyoshi Aisawa, 56, the principal of Orui Elementary School, was arrested after it was discovered that on June 5, he had sneaked into the toilet and taken photographs of a female faculty member in her 20s on his smartphone, TBS reported.

Police said the woman noticed a man but could not see his face, and cried out, prompting other staff members to come running. During the commotion, one faculty member passed Aisawa on a nearby stairwell, and noticed that he had been acting rather strange, TBS reported.

Aisawa turned himself in to police on the evening of June 7.

For the love of money - what is the matter with these people !? Is their sexuality so repressed that misogny and hostility to and fear of women is confused with sexual interest !?

Say you were stressed or drunk, bow for causing others trouble, take a 10% pay cut for six months and carry on.

It is slightly weird/ scary that there are so many stories like this where men in so-called positions of authority (police, teachers etc) get caught trying to take 'lewd' pictures of women. Maybe it says something about the professions they are in?!

If you had your child attending this school, you don't want this guy around any of these children. If found guilty, they should fire this guy. He needs to be registered as a sex offender. He doesn't belong there.

tamanegi Say you were stressed or drunk, bow for causing others trouble, take a 10% pay cut for six months and carry on

I know what you're saying, tamanegi . . .But stress is NEVER an excuse for sexual misconduct or aggression. . . .THAT is what separates the professional from the 'twit"...

I tried to comment here but I was lost for words. All I could think of was principal in an elementary school?

@Scrote ha,ha,ha... the extreme lengths a principal must go through in order to ensure no one on staff has a tattoo!

Should be captured very quickly

He turned himself in already.

What this principal did was unconscionable: an assult on a coworker. But but lets not make anything out of the fact that it happened at an elementary school. There is nothing to suggest that he ever had any interest in filming children. Focus on the victim, not what your imaginations can come up with based on location of the crime.

Looks like the vice-principal is going to be promoted.

OMG, even a principal!

Ugh. He may be one of those men who are aroused by women relieving themselves. Or he just thought it would be funny... Ick.

Teachers and cops seem to be especially pervy in Japan.

He must be so ashamed and embarrassed of himself. He will probably get terminated and be unemployed or maybe retire. He needs to seek help and get his life in order. Its unfortunate for his wife and family.

you could say that he has flushed his career down the sh!tter...

One of the most trusted profession in the society. It is always the minority that ruin the reputation of the majority. Shame on Mr Aisawa!

He probably is fired but Looks like Japan need to create chikan database.

It takes alot for a man in his position to carry out such a risky act. I do not think he can control himself and will repeat again, unless he receives major therapy there is no hope for him, maybe shock treatment for starters.

I think what we are seeing in Japan is a loss of reverence and respect for one's own family or group and what I mean is you never DISHONOR them by your stupidity. Some people might confuse this with fear of the family or group being ashamed of you but the damage to ALL group members and shame and humility they feel in their friendships and business dealings is far heavier a burden to carry. Families will often times move out of the area as they cannot endure even facing their neighbors and companies will go to great lengths to show they won't tolerate such behavior whether done on the clock or not.

Whether we understand it or not, it is typical in Japan to punish all members of a group for the actions of a single member and this begins at an early age with school sports one example and on into their professional careers. There are plenty of examples where public figures have gone on television and have DEEPLY apologized for actions of their adult children and even resigned or voluntarily quit their own careers to take responsibility which the media eats up all day long with reruns of it every 15 minutes. Just look how the record company immediately pulled all of pop star ASKA's records from store shelves just upon his arrest, NOT his conviction!

And one that really says it all is when a child commits an act against you and the parents leap forward to take responsibility and apologizes on their behalf instead of thrusting that child forward and teaching them to own up. Yeah, some will argue that the parents ultimately failed in someway but seeing your mother or father taking the heat for your mistake must be comforting in some way; 'I touch the fire but my mother gets burned!'

This principle sure has shamed a lot of people at his school, both students and faculty, all families who have children attending, ALL members of the community that school is in not to mention the ultimate shame if this sick individual is married and has kids who might even attend it. Maybe there is some merit to group punishment if you want people to obey the laws of society with the message being, your actions don't shame yourself, they shame everyone else and they will have to accept the heat! The only flip side is if you really want to punish others, this is definitely the way to go.

Perhaps he was just trying the image quality of his smartphone.

What other countries have posters describing upskirting, chikan warnings everywhere, women only coaches to avoid groping on trains? It's a bigger problem here than society admits.

His secret hobby.

In Japan all mobile phones make a shutter sound when taking a photo, so the fact that he thought he wasn't going to get caught is more the question here considering it was in a quiet place. I'd say he'd become infatuated with the teacher and had been imagining himself with her in his waking moments. This emboldened him to do such a rash and perverted thing. But I got to think that somebody will to act out this fetish has had feelings like this or done this before. I feel sorry for his wife and children. It has to be incredibly difficult for them. She should divorce him and take him for all he's got.

At a school no less. Disgusting.

Only ashamed because he got caught. The probably in your sentence is an issue. The guy should be fired and his pension should be taken away. How many other women has he done this to? Again, in an ELEMENTARY school! There should be no "probably" at all.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

But but lets not make anything out of the fact that it happened at an elementary school.

Disagree. Parents have entrusted their children to this men and this guy violated their trust and the trust of the staff. Where things like this take place speaks highly of the person.
