Senior Fukuoka police officer arrested for alleged rape

A 27-year-old Fukuoka prefectural police officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman, resulting in bodily injury.

The suspect, Shoji Meno, a senior officer of the Juvenile Division at Kasuga police station, allegedly pushed a woman in her 20s to the floor and sexually assaulted her in his apartment in Fukuoka City at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Sankei Shimbun reported.

According to police, Meno and the woman met through an online dating app. Wednesday was the first time they met in person.

After the assault, the woman fled from Meno’s apartment when she had a chance and called 110. Police said she suffered slight injuries.

Meno has denied the charge of rape and was quoted by police as saying “I did not force her.”

What? Another corrupt cop? You don't say!

Convicted him already, eh Mirai?

I think its awful that they have printed his name. Whether guilty or not, his reputation is now permanently tarnished. But, of course, since he is a male, some have already declared him guilty!

And I am not saying he is innocent, but one has to ask oneself what she was doing in a man's apartment at 4 a.m. that she just met in person for the first time. They say God helps those who help themselves and its true of the justice system as well. She obviously has no regard for her own safety, and now, after the fact, its going to be hard to prove a rape happened or didn't. She helped herself not at all and left the justice system nothing to work with. So Meno will walk, but even if innocent his reputation is permanently tarnished.

And you might point to the trauma a woman feels from rape as an excuse for the injustice, but does anyone bother to consider the trauma of being falsely accused of rape? You think that is a joy?

Not surprised. Lots of cops in the crime section being accused or arrested for various sex related crimes.

Another on-line dating incident gone sour.

Yep. One out of millions.

Meet online/dating service and going to the guys house on first date? not saying she deserved it at all but a little more care and common sense would have stopped this.

As for the police man, have we not read the same thing 20 times this year..... he will be demoted and make a deep bow and the world will keep turning imo.

The only way she'd accompany him home at 4AM on the first date is if they had been drinking. Drinking A LOT. Unless she's mentally challenged.

The woman cannot be believed. All the way from Tokyo to Fukuoka just for sex and reported rape? This strange.

What? Not true at all. I've had girls go home with me - and not for sex - when they hadn't been drinking. And it doesn't say they went home at 4AM, only that she said the assault took place at that time.

I don't see anything in the article about Tokyo, are you getting this information from somewhere else?

The cop, of course, is to be blamed first. But given the fact that the woman accompanied him into his house on first date, it's no wonder the cop got the idea that she wanted to intimate with him to some extent.

Um... that's not how consent works.

That's as may be, but chances were that he may have kidded himself. In short, he was kinda guy not so good at making a pass at a woman. And she simply ended up meeting the wrong guy only to get raped.

Sorry, I went into this article thinking "senior police officer" was older than 27 years old.

There are only allegations floating around at this stage but please:

sexually assaulted her in his apartment in Fukuoka City at around 4 a.m.

Ladies: Don't be in a stranger's house at 4 a.m.

Men: If you are having a woman over, let her know that she is being invited around for sex.

What if we're not?

I don't have any women over anymore, but back before I got married, I offered my place to girls to sleep more than one time, without the intention of sleeping with them, or sleeping with them.

Not all male-female relationships have to be sexual.

I dunno, meeting on a dating app and going to his house at 4am.... sounds a little strange.... not saying he didn't do it but more perhaps he wasn't taking his bribe from the Yakuza and this is the revenge.

@puregaijin

False. Some men have no problems talking sober women out of their panties.

That said, if a male (such as the accused rapist) can't tell the difference between No Means "No", No Means "Yes", and No Means "Maybe In the Future But Not Right Now".....well, maybe he shouldn't be dating until he's improved his social intelligence.

Not that women make it easy. What Pickup Artists call "Last Minute Resistance" is damn annoying, and every woman is different so one female might refuse for 2 minutes and then dive in with enthusiasm while the next will take 40 minutes of foreplay to lose her inhibitions. An inexperienced and sexually frustrated male won't be able to work through such difficulties.

@skinnee

Men: If you are having a woman over, let her know that she is being invited around for sex.

The problem is that for many women, telling them that straight up will "scare the cat". Partly because too many of them think it will make them "look like a slut" and partly because they want to have a "spontaneous" fantasy romance moment where one thing leads to the other.

Whether or not to print the name of the accused? False accusations are a bad thing, certainly, but letting other potential victims know this man has been accused could embolden them to come forward.

There two sides to every sword and someone's always getting cut.

It doesn't matter how they met, who's idea it was to go to his place, or even who initiated sex. Once she refused, better stop right there. Even if they were "in the act", if she said stop, the next "down stroke" would be rape. The fact that she reported it immediately lends credence to her story.
