A 25-year-old unemployed man charged with stealing women’s underwear has been re-arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman and snatching her underwear on a street in Nankoku city, Kochi Prefecture.

According to police, Shoya Imada, assaulted a woman in her 20s by beating her and attempting to suffocate her as she was walking on the street in the evening of Nov 4, Fuji TV reported. Imada then stole her underwear and fled the scene, police said.

The case surfaced while police were investigating Imada on suspicion of stealing female underwear from an apartment and a company’s women's dormitory last October and November.

Police found approximately 600 items of female underwear and clothing at Imada's apartment.

@sensei258 - He better be glad you are not the judge !

Though I fail to see the thrill for the perpetrator - and with violence involved it is especially abhorrent - but stealing women's clothes has a long history. My sharemate had her knickers nicked several times when I lived in Kyoto 3 decades ago.

Pink Floyd even sang about it: Arnold Layne had a strange hobby, Collecting clothes, Moonshine washing line, They suit him fine.

Why is stealing women's underwear so popular in Japan? Is there so many sick men out there? Let's hope this loon's sentence includes some form of counseling.

sensei258…I nearly chocked on my cornflakes. lol

Was she wearing pants or a skirt?

I did choke on my natto maki! This sharking idiot has gone too far this time.

If they brought back the vending machines that sold soiledladies underwear this problem would be much less.

So many frustrated single men living in their own sexual bubbles in Japan. Many of them like this man are stuck in the lowest stratum of the society and can't marry even if they wanted to. Probably one of the side effects of Abenomics. To prevent this kind of crime from getting out of hand, the government should start creating sexually themed amusement parks all over Japan including Kochi where they can satisfy their desires. Mm...probably not. Maybe it will just abet more serious act in the real world. What is China doing about this sort of thing? Their gender balance is much more lopsided I hear with unmarried men past certain age being referred to as "bare branches". Any Chinese contributors?

Put him in prison and make him wear the underwear he stole.

Let's add...in-front of the rest of the long-term residents, and then turn the lights off.

Sounds like attempted murder to me - not just some trivial theft.

A society with a lot of serial killers is a very bad society. I don't really know how to describe a society with serial underwear thieves.

"Why is stealing women's underwear so popular in Japan? Is there so many sick men out there? Let's hope this loon's sentence includes some form of counseling."

"I don't really know how to describe a society with serial underwear thieves."

Perhaps its something that is historically and systematically overlooked (like the myriad of panties stolen from clotheslines in JP.

This deviant sickness profoundly amazes a civil society. For what reasons these acts consistently are ongoing? Perhaps of the lack of stern prison controls.

There were underwear thieves back home, but here they're like a Thing.

as I've said before, why does Japan not have a sex offenders register? this will keep track of pervs wherever the go!

The attacker is has pass into a more serious faze. The last faze he was content with taking clean items undercover. Now he is fronting single women at night and attacking the victim. I would assume if he was not caught the next victim would have been killed for item. I am sure this bloke will under go treatment and be let out to do worse. This bloke is demented pass fixing.

My heart breaks for the victims.

So, this pervert starts out as an underwear thief and is now assaulting his victims. I recall an episode of Dateline a few years ago that chronicled a Canadian underwear thief who morphed into a serial killer to fuel his desires.

I'm glad this weirdo is caught and hope that he is locked up for his crimes.

I bet this girl will be packin' the pepper spray from this day on.

This man needs treatment. Sadly most people who have a fetish never seek treatment from professionals. This type of behavior can cause serious social and legal consequences. Therefore it would be very wise to consider getting rehabilitated. Be grateful if you and your loved ones or friends don't suffer with mental disorder or any other mental illness and have compassion on those that do.The ignorance about mental illnesses leads to unfair and factless based stigma's being placed upon the mentally ill. There are still many people with uninformed perceptions about mental illness and other psychological disorders and still need to be educated about it.

Lets say he has 600 hundred pair of undies, I say make him wear each pair one pair a day and march him down the street in public with them on.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Misunderstood, iam sure he might like that! so would it be a punishment??? mind you it might be pain full if he is a large waisted bloke and theses ladies panties are a uk size 8, it might be a tight fit and a bit bit chaffing!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What will be his punishment this time? Beating a woman up + theft should put him in jail. But maybe they will make him right a promissory note that "He promise not to do it again". He was once arrested for stealing underwear and maybe they just leave him a warning and made him write a promissory note.. This is a clear evidence that the promissory note system doesn't work. This are soon to be rapist if you let them just go believing that they will not do it again. Lock them up and enforce the law! Protect your people, not your image!
