Seven bicycles set on fire in Chiba

Police said Sunday they are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out early Sunday morning at an apartment block in Kashiwa City, burning seven bicycles.

At around 3:30 a.m., police received a call from a neighbor reporting that bicycles were on fire. When police arrived, seven bikes had been destroyed. Investigators found what looks to be the remains of something used to set the fire, resembling a mop, near the tires of the bicycles.

Wow! Slow news day, hey? I hope the cops catch these master criminals and hang them.

Oh... now this is a big crime....

Maybe someone rode them really fast...

I don't know why the readers above think this is insignificant. This could be the beginning of an arsonist. It could be a psychotic with a grudge against someone. "Little" crimes like vandalism invariably lead to bigger crimes if they are not nipped in the bud. Criminal psychology 101.

A Mop? Maybe someone was just trying to clean up the mess.

Maybe someone was mopping too vigourously...

probably some disgruntled old man whose bicycle was nudged an inch out of place by a neighbour he doesn't like.

I know a lot of people here that hate bicyclists, because they nearly run you over on the sidewalk blazing past you at mach speed. I know people who have been run into by them as well. This is an act of revenge!

I hate bicyclists as much as the next guy, but isn't it more reasonable just to punch the cyclist in the face and move on? Why go through the trouble of lighting the bicycle on fire? Or how about instead of resorting to violence or vandalism, just write them an angry letter about how your disapprove of their actions.

Agreed with Smartacus. Psych 101. This guy will go on to bigger things, like tricycles and perhaps even motorbikes. Needs to be caught soon, before he gets a real taste.

because it is. not all acts of violence or vandalism is a clue to some deep rooted problem. Maybe the guy was bored.

Doesn't Chiba have a lot of cops already? How could this have happened? A murder and letting the suspect escape in his socks I could understand. But this?

I solved it! It was Sadakazu Tanigaki!!!!!

I didn´t know that bicycles burn?

Who called the cops over this? People here are so dumb!!!!, this is too insignificant to be on the news

Uh, bicycles aren't really that flammable as in only the tires and the seats are combustible. I bet it was a drunk punk who thought this would be a funny stunt.
