An 18-year-old youth who was in police custody over a sexual assault incident, fled from officers in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture, on Thursday but was captured six hours later.
According to police, officers went to the suspect’s home at around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday and asked him to accompany them to the police station on a voluntary basis, Fuji TV reported. However, about 30 minutes later, as the youth was getting out of the police car in the parking lot at the police station, he suddenly ran away, climbing over a two-meter-high gate.
Police sent out an alert and deployed about 200 officers to search the area. The suspect was arrested after he returned to his home at around 9:40 p.m. Thursday. Police said he was hiding in an upstairs closet.

If you’re on the lamb it’s probably best not to hide in a closet in your home.

200 officers? Bit excessive for one perp, no? Especially a perp that doesn't seem too bright if he went hiding in his own home. Like that's not the first place police are going to look. Hope the courts throw the book at him and toss him in a dark, dank hole to rot.

There's something like 220,000 police in Japan and many, particularly in depopulating provincial areas, have absolutely nothing to do. It's a surprise they didn't send 2,000 after him.

Absolutely NO mention of the victim(s) *?!?! *** **When and Where was that story?
Or, . . . are we supposed to feel some compassion for this poor Japanese “minor” ??

Of course, J police know an 18 y.o. ‘sexual assault’ suspect will ALWAYS ‘run home to money & daddy’ to try to escape accountability for their very-much, ‘adult’ crimes.

This is a potential “Super-Free” weekend for young people. Have fun in public, in groups and never one girl alone with a bunch of male Halloween revelers!
Fighto!
Throw the scum in prison with the most hardened sex offenders. Hopefully that will sort him out.
Ramzel
What a moron. Escape the police and return to the place where they originally found him.

Why does he need to run?
Does he not know that the maximum sentence he could get for sexual assault is only a suspended sentence? and 99% chance that prosecutors would not even prosecute him.

To go with them from his house is voluntarily but when that boy step inside police property that will be another new deal. If that boy is real criminal even he refuse initial, they'll back with warrant another time.

*Before *‘money, Mommy & Daddy*’ circumnavigate this story into oblivion, looking forward to a later edition/follow-up detailing the alleged crimes AND the number of victims***.

Let’s review, shall we?
Punk gets busted for sexual assault. Yet, no information on that crime at all.
Cops find him at home on a Thursday, 3:20 pm. Clearly this individual is a very important and busy guy.
Cops somehow manage to take him down to the station, but while there, he runs away.
They’re in the station parking lot, yet he runs away…….escapes over a 2 meter fence? Was he not handcuffed? Where there not enough officers in the vicinity to handle the perp?
How useless can the cops be to let one Little punk get away? What is he? The Flash? Did he have the ability to leap tall buildings or fences in one bound? Blame that one on the worthless cops.
realizing they screwed, the cops panic and send out 200 officers to find the kid. 200. Clearly they had nothing else to do that day.
and then……the kid if free, he got away!
and what happens?
they go back to his house. His house! And find him hiding in his closet…….
someone please put this kid out of his misery. Fire all the cops that couldn’t handle him as well…….

If he was there on a voluntary basis, can he not leave when he wants? So what did they arrest him for?
