He should have been locked up for at least 20 more birthdays.

So do these morons also lose their licenses? How about committing them to the oil spill clean up as well?

They should have been jailed for at least 20 yrs.

Shockingly lenient punishments. Is our beautiful planet so worthless?

On Sunday, fisheries minister Sudheer Maudhoo said that the ship's insurers had agreed to pay compensation worth 112,000 Mauritian rupees ($2,580) each to hundreds of fishermen and fishmongers for the loss of earnings caused by the oil spill.

Only 2580 usd, the muritanian negotiator needs to be investigated, looks like a deal was struck to channel a large chunk of cash to a private account in some tax haven,

Compared with the environmental damage this seems like a very minor inconvenience.

DUI on a large oil tanker.

Wakashio is obviously not a tanker…..it was a cape size bulker enroute to Brazil to load iron ore bound for China

A little slap on the wrist of 16 months jail time and a few apologies before being allowed to go home is not a harsh enough sentence for thier brazen irresponsibility and demise of our already fragile ecosystem .

"endangering safe navigation".

Endangering the oceans, wildlife, the environment! Don't our planet earth mean anything to these morons? And the ship split in two, too. These goofs got a slap on the wrists.
