Police said Tuesday they are searching for an armed man who allegedly stabbed the manager of a convenience store in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, during a robbery on Monday.

According to police, the incident took place at around 3:30 a.m. when a man entered the FamilyMart store, stole around 40,000 yen in cash before stabbing 52-year-old store manager Shoji Sasaki and fleeing the scene, Fuji TV reported.

Police said Sasaki was taken to hospital where he was treated for stab wounds to his stomach and arm. Doctors said his injuries are not life-threatening.

The assailant is believed to be around 30 years of age and was last seen wearing glasses, black clothes and sneakers, Fuji reported.

I'm really shocked by this! I lived in Numazu before and I remember it being a quiet little town and safe. I hope the store manager recovers soon.

All towns are safe. It is people who are, or become crazy/dangerous.
