Six people aged between 19 and 37 were arrested on Monday for kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and demanding a 1 million yen ransom from her father in Kazunomiya City, Aichi Prefecture.
Kazunari Suzuki, 24, Fumiya Hattori, 37, and four others were arrested for kidnapping the girl, whom they knew, and forcing her into their car around 1:40 a.m. on Monday. They used the girl's mobile phone to call her father and ask for a 1 million yen ransom. Police found the suspects and the victim in Toyama Prefecture after they tracked the signal from the victim's mobile phone.
Police said the victim was a runaway and had not been home for 2-3 days.

Were kidnappers also unemployed? I wonder if this was victims idea. Very similar stories can be find in USA very often. Sure if it is true cops had done a great job. After all for kidnappers 'Catch me if you can' didn't work this time. You don't have to have a criminal mind to track this one down, mobile phone is not just for call users but a good trap for crims. Every cop should learnt about this. This kidnappers are very stupid.

Was there abuse (sexual abuse )at home or domestic violence. Why did the girl run away in the first place for 3 days ???

" Police said the victim was a runaway and had not been home for 2-3 days. " Why did the girl runaway ? Let's not jump to an conclusion just yet JT DETECTIVES.
There could be domestic violence at home or the girl planned to get money from the parents ??? We don't know the full story to this. Let's wait for the full picture.

I am curious of why the DUMB DUMBS would use the girl’s cell to call the father, knowing damn well that there is GPS available for damn near all electronic devices these days; hell, even PSP has GPS on it..

I am not sure, it sounds like cohesion to me, but who knows. Just hope the kid is safe and we will see if the criminals get a suspended sentence or not.

At least nobody died by these "master" criminals

They just keep getting wierder and stupider! She was a runaway and kinapped by people she knows? C'mon j-cops! How obvious is it that it was her plan? She is not a victim. She is the mastermind!

timorboarder- "This story dovetails nicely with the debate about violent video games." Yes, they seem irrespective enough to be under the dulusions associated with fictitious worlds even so a great pity it'll never be proven. TJrandom- "These six should be charged with criminal stupidity in addition to the kidnapping." A 15 year imprisonment for kidnapping, another 5 year for stupidity sounds good to you (lol)?

Sounds kind of like a Japanese "Fargo," except everyone survived.

Are the cops getting better or the criminals stupider? Yesterday we had ATM theft in from of video surveillance and today criminals not understanding how mobile phone networks work.

Nope. All you need to do is being clearly in touch with the lower levels of your own mind.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, a 1 million yen ransom from her father. It's in the article. Has nothing to do with video games and everything to do with trying to extort money from her dad.

If this is what it sounds like, and as you say, she was a victim, not an accomplice, then they were planning to murder the girl. Tragedy is not the word I would use to describe this.

J-cops are really on the ball these days!

1 million yen divided among 6 people that's 166,666 yen each, hardly worth a kidnapping charge.
nath
One million yen, divided by six people - is not a lot for kidnapping. Plus they were known to the girl – so if she was indeed a victim and not an accomplice they were potentially signing on for an even greater tragedy. These six should be charged with criminal stupidity in addition to the kidnapping.

Kipnapping a 15-year girl? You don't need to be a rocket scientist to imagine what these clowns had in store for the victim. This story dovetails nicely with the debate about violent video games.
Anyway, irrespective of whether or not the girl was living at home, those arrested should be put away for a long, long time.
