Police said Tuesday they have arrested the 44-year-old manager of a "soapland" in Kobe's Fukuhara district for hiring a 13-year-old girl.
According to police, Chikara Kamimura, the manager of the "soapland" -- one of many Japanese euphemisms for sex clubs -- was arrested on a charge of violating anti-prostitution laws, TV Asahi reported.
Police say the girl was put to work in May of last year, when she was a second grader in junior high school. She used identification papers of an acquaintance in her 20s to pass off as her own, police said.
Kamimura has denied the charges, and was quoted by investigators as saying that he didn't think the girl was a minor.© Japan Today
