Police said Friday they have arrested the son of a murdered NPO chief director. The victim, Michiko Otsuka, 68, the chief director of the Sendai-based NPO “Support Network for Children with Development Disorders,” was found dead on Wednesday in her home with multiple stab wounds to her chest.

Otsuka lived together with her son, Taketomo Otsuka, 41, who went missing after the murder. Otsuka was found sleeping in his car on Thursday in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture, approximately 200 km from Sendai.

According to police, he has admitted to killing his mother, but has not revealed any motive.

He is 41 and living with momma, I would say that is a development disorder. As for motive or a reason why... There is never a reason why, there is never motive, there are only excuses for the action of murder. He had it in him to kill and picked the first person who made him angry. This is sad but true. Murders are all the same all over the world. Not evil, just a mean *&&^%$%^ and a Killer.

We knew this was coming. One thing, though. Could it have been possible that the mother was living with the son? IF the son was paying for the rent or mortgage, utilities, and the groceries, would we still say he was living with his mother?

Maria

I would think her last minutes (and seconds) would have been very horrific. How could they have been otherwise?

Michiko Otsuka was chief director of the Support Network for Children with Development Disorders. Her 41-year-old son was living with her. He obviously has some mental problem. It could be development disorder, don't you think? But most people with mental problems don't stab their mother in the chest multiple times. This guy is also evil.

@Serrano: I would say that it takes someone with a mental problem to stab their mother with a knife multiple times. Not all, but you probably have a higher percentage than normal.

If he didn't have a mental disorder, I wonder did the mother say something to piss him off, like if those people that I work with who have problmes can find their way, why can't he do it. That would probably push him over the edge.

Nah, the radiation must have gotten to him or something... Jokes aside,I don't really think that he meant what he did, most probably because of his illness, the one his mom campaigned on...

"No one says he was suffering from development disorder, right?"

Why did he have to stab his own mother? What a low blow! Anyone who thinks you can just go and stab your mother is nuts!

I can't believe he did such a thing! How could he? My god, what is this nation coming to, what with this mother stabbing going on! It just burns me that he thinks it's ok to stab your mother! It's not!

No one says he was suffering from development disorder, right? At least I didn't see it in the article.

@Maria

evil doesn't come into it at all

Glad we agree on that :)

@lucabrisi: If the man's mentally ill (which I assume is what you mean by "development disorder" , not that he is dyslexic) then there's the reason for his attack right there. In which case evil doesn't come into it at all, does it? And yes, I was replying more to serrano's post than yours, obviously.

The motive was "I was pissed 'cause mom told me to get a job".

@Maria

Who's equating them? Serrano said he has a development disorder and he's evil (ie they're two different things), I said he has a development disorder; he isn't evil.

When I saw the headline I though that it was about the president of Softbank ...

I think equating someone with a "development disorder" with being "evil" is just... ignorant.

He's obviously not all there - did he crack, or was he already broken?

I hope very much that her last minutes weren't too horrific.

@Serrano

..., he obviously has a development disorder....And he's also obviously evil. Who else but an evil person stabs his mother in the chest again and again?

Uh, someone with a development disorder, maybe?

He didn't have a motive, he's 41 and was living with his mother, he obviously has a development disorder.

I hope that he didn't have a developmental disorder, becasue if he did, his actions would probably wipe out all of the work that the organization that his mother worked for with this action.

RIP to the lady. She was probably a good one.
