Police have rearrested the 21-year-old son of a former senior member of the opposition Democratic Party on suspicion of molesting two elementary school girls in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, last month.
The suspect, Yosuke Ogawa, is already under arrest for assaulting another elementary school girl as she walked home in Tokorozawa at around 4 p.m. on Oct 31. In that case, he grabbed the girl who fell down and injured herself. Ogawa was subsequently arrested on Nov 2.
Police said that Ogawa, who is a student at Nihon University, has also been charged with attempting to molest two elementary school girls in separate incidents within 10 minutes of each other as they walked home on Oct 20 in Tokorozawa, Fuji TV reported Thursday.
Police said Ogawa has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he has always had an interest in young girls of elementary school age.
Ogawa’s father, Katsuya, 54, who was the Democratic Party’s secretary-general in the House of Councillors, resigned from the party when his son was arrested on Nov 2, and publicly apologized to the girl and her family for his son’s aberrant behavior.© Japan Today
