Thanks Turbostat...I wish that JT was a little more clearer about that...it makes it sound if they hacked into the Playstation network ans somehow discovered and execs travel plan there.

DDoS attack is not a hack

Sounds like it is two different acts. That they disrupted the exec's travel plans by tweeting in a bomb threat. A separate act from shutting down the Playstation Network.

Title: Sony's PlayStation network hacked Story: Hackers orchestrated a so-called denial-of-service attack against Sony, which involved overwhelming the company’s gaming network with fake visits so that legitimate users couldn’t get through.

The title doesn't match the content. The network wasn't hacked. No one got into it. For that matter, the people who perpetrated the attack were not even hackers - hackers break into networks, and the network was not broken in to.

A case of someone who doesn't know what they are talking about trying to sound impressive by using words when they don't know the meaning of what is being talked about.

The exec had tweeted he was taking a flight... Some idiot worked out which flight and sent a bomb threat.

Why target sony?

Hackers infiltrated Sony’s PlayStation Network and disrupted the travel plans of a top company executive

I am confused as to how hackers were able to get an exec's flight plans through the Playstation Network. It would make sense if they hacked the Sony Corporate network to get the info, but why is the exec's flight schedule on Playstation?

Sony said that no personal information was stolen as part of the breach. Hackers compromised the company’s network

Yeah, but its just proves that Sony's network is still vulnerable to hackers. Come on! Get it together Sony before you are forced out of business

DDoS attack is not a hack

Exactly.

Lizardsquad has been really active lately-- i come home to play games and there are random outages due to their DDoS.... its a complicated story and its aggravating to players and companies regardless of their intentions. I think they may be enjoying the attention over the last 2 or 3 weeks though, which is provoking them further.

Why target sony?

Who knows? Maybe a grudge. Or maybe just a highly visible target that satisfies someone's ego.

They can use the Sony network tdoe virtual meeting. There is not necessary to use airplane

ATTACKED, Not HACKED. Looks like a KID is testing his BotNet Clients on Sony Network.
