A 19-year-old man, suspected of stalking his former girlfriend, jumped to his death from the 6th floor of her apartment building in Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture, police said Sunday.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, Fuji TV reported. The woman, whose apartment was on the 6th floor, had called police to report that her ex-boyfriend was outside her apartment building.

When a police officer arrived, he found the man on the first floor. When he asked him what he was doing, he ran up the stairs to the sixth floor, followed by the police officer. When the officer requested he come to the station, the man jumped over 6th-floor corridor railing.

The suspect was taken to hospital where he died about an hour later, police said.

Why is death so often the choice? He probably would have been released with a warning. But maybe he was planning to harm her

"If she can't have me nobody will!"

The way it usually goes in Japan we can surmise that if he hadn't killed himself he would have killed her, so good news for the girl.

Expecting stability from a stalker?

Sounds cold but if he was crazy enough to jump from the 6th floor I doubt he had any good intentions with the girl.

Japan is a safe country...

why all men from all over the world are so violent, primitive, and prone to harm others?? what the heck can be in somebody's mind to waste time and energy to "stalk" a person. What's this BIG difference that makes men commit countless more crimes than women? Never found the answer for these questions.

Finally..... The police do their job correctly. Why was the guy stalking the woman ? It was his choice to climb the rail and jump. Much better outcome than yet another crazy guy knifing his ex girlfriend to death.

Why can't all stalkers do this?

The stalker now being stalked by the police. Tragic way to end his life though.

Why can't some people think that there are a lot of fish in the ocean? 19 is just too young to die nor too old to feel the real meaning of love. Men shld not invest a lot of time and money in any relationship if feelings aren't mutual.

I applaud this suspect.

He himself prevented any future harm to the object of his obsession.

More stalkers and criminals should do this.

Bravo!

Genius.

it must have been a mighty slow night for the police to actually respond competently to a stalking situation for once.

some people get a life and move on. this guy could only do part two. it will be painful for his family to deal with but they must accept the fact that people learn life skills from their family primarily. if no-one teaches their kids or their siblings about how to deal with relationships this type of problem will never go away. I feel sorry for the women who have to put up with this childish nonsense.

Expecting stability from a stalker?

No, just as the question asks, I'd like to know why so many, like this chap, choose the final option.
