Strange phone call directs police to Nagano crime scene

Police said Monday they received a phone call about 6:50 a.m. from a man calling himself "Koike," telling them "I've killed a woman." The man hung up without providing further details. About 90 minutes later, police received a call from a passerby saying there was a man bleeding in a parking lot in Tsurugakami-chitosemachi.

Police rushed to the scene to find a man in his 50s collapsed in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Police discovered an address written on a sheet of paper in the man's possession, and upon searching an apartment near the location, found the body of a woman in her 30s or 40s.

Police are currently investigating the connection between the two deaths.

seems another sad case of a man not being a man. Sad just hope he was the last of this genetic line.

Another murder in Nagano - bit disconcerted to find that Nagano's turning into Saitama.....

Where in Nagano? I haven't found this on any other website - including kyodo.

So did he do it? Or was it a double murder....

"strange" ??? Shouldn't it be "suspicious" ?!

Suspicious is a given, Potsu. That's where we get the word "suspect"...

Anyway, this is really weird. And it is probably more than just some man not being a man. It's too weird. Too obvious.

First, it's weird deaths like this...

Next thing you know, Kira will be the number one headline on every newspaper in the world.

Have fun with this one, guys.

Just ask the old man's family or friends if the phone voice (obviously recorded by the police) sound like the man in question. This is obviously strange and or suspicious as everyone suspects, so let's confirm his voice and then move onto other clues (fingerprints on the note, writing style, etc). And then who knows if the "real" killer(s) will be caught by Nagano troopers?

Obviously the police didn't record zilch...

What is it with these gutless people that want to kill themselves but always take someone else with them here in Japan.

There was that jerk a few days ago that jump in front of a train and dragged a lady off the platform with him. That moron that stabbed and killed people in Akihabara a few months ago, yet he lived, police should have shot him dead, I know if I was on duty I would have.

It seems to often then not here in Japan of late that people wanting to take their life because they have failed at a few things are going about killing others before they kill themselves. It is just gutless, if they want to die then they should just take their own life and leave other people alone to live.

I am worried about the safety of my wife when she goes to work now days because of all the nutjobs out of late here in Japan. 6 Years ago when we married we decided to live in Japan instead of Australia because of high crimes such as murder and rape in OZ, yet of late Japan is going down the same path and is becoming a cesspool of murderers and rapists. Only difference between Australian and Japan is in Australia we have guns.

there's another difference in Japan, they don't allow morons to own guns. You said you were in favour of offing people for certain crimes, rape paedophilia, murder, perhaps this man believed the same and executed the perpetrator of some crime himself then as he had killed felt the need to execute himself also. As he is now dead we will never know for sure, perhaps that's the reason the akihabara knife man was arrested to try and understand why he had done such a terrible thing.

“Just ask the old man's family or friends”

Which old man? I don’t see any mention of any OLD men in the strory.

I wonder why he killed the poor woman and than took his own life - there is a solution to every problem and killing someone or yourself is not one of them

Maybe this is a clever move made by a third man - the actual murderer - he arrives in this apartment where the man and woman are in bed. Perhaps she's his wife and finding them in bed together killed her first while the man was trying to escape tried killing him when his mobile phone rang. He stopped to answer and saw the man escaping, chased him and managed to cause lethal injuries which were the cause of his death when arrived in hospital...The killer (murderer)made the call before the police and ambulance arrived and told them about the dead woman and also left the address slip in the man's pocket, wiped the finger marks off the mobile phone of the victim and hid himself till the police arrived and took the victim with them. The police should look for the "THIRD MAN".

Strange phone call directs police to Nagano crime scene

How is this true? The strange call (the first one) didn't mention a crime scene at all. The second call, from a passerby, which wasn't particularly strange, is the one that lead police to the bleeding man, and then the note, and the woman.

Actually it is true. Where the guy was found is also a crime scene. Either suicide or murder, but still a scene of a crime (unless it is legal to kill yourself in Japan). Information at that crime scene provides information about the other crime scene.

Where the guy was found is also a crime scene.

A call to the police about a guy bleeding somewhere isn't particularly strange is it? It seems like the kind of phone calls police get everyday. The strange call was the first one, in which the caller said he killed someone but gave no further information. That phone call led nowhere.

grafton,

Which old man? I don’t see any mention of any OLD men in the strory.

Grafton, the dead man was in his 50s. It's in the 1st line of the 2nd paragraph of the article. OK, I guess if you're in your 50s, then I take back calling him an old man.
