The manager of a convenience store in Osaka has been arrested for robbing another convenience store in Osaka, police said Friday.
According to police, Seiji Yoshida, 33, who is the manager of a Circle K Sunkus store in Sumiyoshi Ward, entered a Lawson convenience store about 800 meters away from his store at 6:45 a.m. last Sept 14 and threatened an employee with scissors, Fuji TV reported. Yoshida demanded money but the employee resisted, so he fled.
Police said Yoshida then went back to his store where he started his work shift as normal.
Police started circulating a photo taken from the Lawson store surveillance camera footage and received several tips from local residents saying the suspect resembled the manager of the Sunkus store.
Yoshida has admitted to the attempted robbery, police said.

Yeah, I laughed at the headline, too. And Mocheake's comment. But seriously, stay in school and don't do crime, kids!

Mocheake, that was very punny! (seriously, good one. upvoted)

Educator,
He should have gone full r-tard, like some other of the local heroes here, with mask, obasan sun visor and a hat.
I know there are many people that are not that clever around here but this...? It takes the cake. Certainly, this must be a cultural thing, right?

So weird. I don't approve of crime, but the headline made me laugh, I have to admit.

I guess the employee of the Lawson store didn't flinch at all from the threat and said like "Hey, you can really lick me? Get out of here!" And chances are that the suspect will lose his job as the store manager. What a farcical incident!

Ripping off a rival convenience store? How amusing

I am curious to hear what his motive was....drunk? Needed money for pachinko? Doesn't remember doing it? All of the above?

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity but, never has common crime carried so much implications.

Convenience store competition taken to another level.

Inappropriate, I know, but the headline made me laugh.

Maybe he needed to balance his own store's register after taking out "loans".

Robbery (even attempted) is a crime and therefor a serious matter and I'm not trying to make light of this, but reading this... well you're just lost for words really.... about how ludicrous the whole thing is.
SenseNotSoCommon
You couldn't make this up.
