Police on Sunday arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 28-year-old man at the cheap lodging facility where they both lived in Taito Ward.
According to the arrest warrant, Eiji Watanabe stabbed Sho Ogiwara with a knife at least 10 times in the back and stomach at around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Fuji TV reported. Both men lived in rooms on the second floor of the building.
Street surveillance camera footage showed Watanabe fleeing the crime scene and he was put on a wanted list after a blood-stained knife was found in his room. At around 6 p.m. on Sunday, he went to a church in Setagaya Ward where he was recognized by someone who called 110.
Police said Watanabe has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying, “Ogiwara came to my room and complained that my footsteps were too loud. We argued and I grabbed a knife and stabbed him.”

Thanks for the update. However, which is he: Eiji “Watabe” or “Watanabe”?
Other media and Your article last yesterday identified him as Eiji Watabe and today., You are reporting him as Eiji Watanabe. Other media still are referring to him as Eiji Watabe.
Moderator: Watanabe is correct.

Isn’t TaitoKu, Ueno ?
Why do they always say that instead of Ueno?

Do these animals understand the full burden of ending some ones life? is it as easy as it is almost always reported? or is it just the way a reporter feels like when reporting it?
I remember the days when reporting a murder use to carry some responsibilities, I guess those days are gone. LOL

Japan is a safe country. Really. It is.

Weird, your tone would indicate sarcasm. Which would be strange, considering that not only is Japan one of the safest countries in the world, Japan is safer now than it's ever been in the past.
I'm guessing I just misunderstood the tone of your post. Because if it was actually being sarcastic, it would be baffling how speaking the truth is sarcasm.

OR....what you could've done was acknowledge his claim and either carpet your home, wear socks or simply try to walk quiter! Either choice, Ogiwara would've still been alive!

I'm living a hard life in a cheap flophouse at the age of 55, and some young punk comes and complains about me "walking loud", so I'm going to go out and spend the last few yen in my pocket to get my room carpeted?! Please. If it escalated to this level, I'm pretty sure the younger guy wasn't making a polite request.

Yes, it is. "Safe country" does not mean "crime does not exist".
