Police in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill a 71-year-old man who was found lying on the street on Saturday night.
According to police, the suspect, Kiyotaka Kosone, who works in the building industry, has admitted to assaulting the victim, sometime between 9 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. last Saturday, but denied any intent to kill.
Police said that Kosone told them he got into a argument with the victim, who was riding a bicycle, and lost his temper. He dragged the man off his bike to the ground and kicked him in the head, The victim was found by a passerby and taken to hospital where he remained unconscious on Monday. Doctors said he had suffered a cerebral contusion.
Kosone, who lives nearby, was identified by witnesses. Police said he and the victim did not know each other and are questioning Kosone about the cause of the argument.

Just another cowardly thug picking on someone that won't fight back. I know a lot of these older Japanese fellas think they are nine feet tall and made of steel, but that is no reason to throw them to the ground and kick them in the head.
