SUV driver arrested for hit-and-run involving motorcyclist

Sometimes these large and wide vehicles can clip a motorcyclist or bicyclist with their side-view mirrors and the driver never notices it, due to the cabin noise, tire noise or rough ride. It is good news that the other driver was caring enough to get involved, and volunteer his time and images to do the right thing. Thank you, Honest Citizen!

True that ! Many years ago I was driving a fully loaded gasoline tanker up an LA area freeway on my way to make a delivery around midnight. I just happened to catch a glimpse of something in the left mirror that looked like some headlights up against my truck. Didn't feel or hear anything. Then the lights swerved across the freeway and disappeared from view in my mirrors. Hmmm. I pulled over and found the tires rubbed shiny and some minor damage to the truck. Long story short some cars collided behind me, one car spun into the truck, then spun across the freeway into the center divider. There were three other cars involved. I didn't feel or hear a thing in that big heavy noisy rough riding truck. I I hadn't looked in the mirror at just the right time I would have never known anything happened.

The victim, a company employee from Tokyo, remains unconscious and in a critical condition after suffering a head injury.

Hope the victim would somehow come to himself again.

Footage of the hit-and-run was captured on a nearby vehicle’s dashcam, which led police to Aizawa. Aizawa has denied the charge and said he doesn’t understand how he could have caused the accident.

And that's why you need to be arrested and kept off of the roads. Now if you could understand what happened, maybe you'd be ok in society. MAYBE.

Hummers are no bigger than small trucks but I've only never seen one here. 

Quite a frequent sight in Tokyo. Of course as city vehicle they make as much sense as Ferraris in a practical way. But practical use is not what people buy them for.

Not all "people". Just those with an extreme desire to show off among their peers. Kind of like the Chimpira version of virtue signalling.

The same width as a 4 ton truck, but you only need a regular licence. That's asking for trouble. They should be banned. I sure hope that guy in the hospital recovers.

I know that road (Kawagoe Kaido, 254) very well, narrow two lanes, usually very crowded in the Niiza area.
