Taxi driver suspected in taxi robbery

A 54-year-old taxi driver was arrested Tuesday over the robbery of another taxi that occurred last April in Urayasu.

Noriyuki Enomoto was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another taxi driver, 75-year-old Yoshio Sagawa, and stealing the man's fares on the morning of April 8. Enomoto then stole the taxi, abandoning it near JR Suidobashi station in Tokyo.

Police identified Enomoto by analyzing video footage from a nearby security camera.

Enomoto has admitted to the charges, and was quoted by police as saying, "I had to pay off loan sharks and owed rent."

A 54 year old Taxi driver stabs a 74 year old Taxi driver.

Now what I want to know is just who would want to get into a Taxi that is being driven by a 74 year old man? Isn't that dangerous enough?

Very not so funny. People that age still need work. Driving is something they've done for 50 years and the body still remembers the routes without speeding, drinking, smoking etc. Maybe they can provide a safe way for other travellers. In any event, the taxi business is really hurting itself in these tough, astringent days of no-work. But for one to stab another of one's own trade (and nationality upsetting the concept of wa and brotherhood, one race and all the rest), to settle his own loan shark and pay rent is beyond pitiful.
