Teacher arrested for intruding into woman's bedroom

Police in Nara said Wednesday they have arrested a public school teacher for intruding into the bedroom of a woman who lives in the same apartment building as he does.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Akihiro Kajiyama, 26, entered the woman's first-floor apartment through a balcony window at around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sports Nippon reported. The woman, 23, who was asleep at the time, woke up to see Kajiyama in her bedroom, police said.

The woman screamed and Kajiyama fled. However, when he returned to his apartment about an hour later, barefoot, a police officer arrested him.

Kajiyama was quoted by police as saying he wanted to have a peek at the woman's underwear and private life.

Kajiyama teaches at Heguri Junior High School.

I don't think he'll be teaching there for much longer. And hate to ask, but what makes a young man lose his marbles like that? Even if he considered her very attractive, there's no excuse for that behavior.

What a creep! I suppose the thought never occurred to him to ask her out for a coffee! Sadly, there are way too many of these sexual creeps in Japan. Underwear thieves, peeping toms, up skirt photographers, kiddy fiddlers, unhealthy enfatuations with young girls and child kidnappers. The list just goes on and on! My GF keeps asking what is wrong with Japanese men. My only response is, they stop growing up at 12. And, this guy is (was) a junior high school teacher? Japan needs a sex offender's list, but I fear the list would be too large to manage!

"he wanted to have a peek at the woman’s underwear and private life." "Kajiyama teaches at Heguri Junior High School."

And he's not going to change. Will he continue to teach, but at a different school in a different city?

but will be teaching same subject...sex educator (!)

I just can't imagine waking up to find a stranger in the room. I wonder what his real motive was.

Living out the fantasies read in manga no doubt. What a strange person, stepping through the norms of behavior for his one sexual gains.

Oooh, creepy...!

Does Japan have an extra strong affinity for stalking and creepy behavior? It sure seems so.

Perhaps if they learned to show emotions, this wouldn't happen as frequently as it does.

Sicko...!!! Just awful for the lady to encounter a loser in her own dormitory. It's best to take notice in locking your balcony doors!!

A comment like that is demeaning to sex educators who do a very important job. I should think the solution is not to deride sex educators but rather to expand their lessons to include how to properly get a date and how to properly and decently attempt to turn a date into a sexual encounter. Certainly taking pot shots at sex education is not going to help anybody.

We could be seeing different headlines on this story. This could have ended a lot worse. Thankfully, we didn't see them.

I wonder why some Japanese males resort to this kind of behavior? How does someone build this idea of provocativeness in their minds and think they could get away with it?

As a sidenote: I'm not sure I like it that they posted the school. It will give the other good teachers a bad name.

Not victim blaming at all - this guy is 100% in the wrong - but was her balcony door not locked? If she lives on the first floor, it should have been. Though it's unfortunate that we live in a day and an age where it's not safe to leave your doors unlocked.

You know a good way to get a peek at someone's underwear and private life? Start by talking to them in a friendly way and if they respond favorably and the time seems right, escalate to asking them out on a date. Then repeat the dating stage until you're in a relationship. The private life thing resolves itself through the process and if successful, you get the underwear peek at some point, too. Someone probably should have told this guy that when he was 13 or 14.

I just can't imagine waking up to find a stranger in the room.

Maybe your private life and underwear are not so inviting and/or attractive.

I wonder what his real motive was.

Maybe that was it. Maybe it was more. Maybe it was both. The main thing is, he's been apprehended and the woman did not have to go through any more terror.

And I would suggest that, given the fact that this person has been identified by name and as a teacher, he will no longer be a teacher. We may like to believe that all offenders get a slap on the wrist, but teachers often are held to far hgher standards. I'm sure the school is going to be fending off LOTS of criticism from the PTA and any other bodies. No, I think this guy will be at Hello Work after he deals with the crime. Bye bye teaching career.

It's unfortunate, but women should think twice about living on the first floor. I've had many female friends who lived on the first floor of their buildings who've had their apartments broken into, stalked, harassed, etc. First of all, living on the first floor, you are highly visible to predators and non-predators alike. You're more likely to be noticed coming in and going out of the door. Also, your laundry is more likely to be noticed, especially hanging out on the balcony. One deterrent is to leave a pair of men's boots or shoes outside of the door to give the impression that a man is present.

Sadly people don't talk and this is the result. They need lessons to open up, talk more and learn to cope with rejection. If he had asked her out and was rejected, then there are several women out there willing to share their knickers with him

The real motive is very clear from his action .. RAPE , but lucky he did not carry a knife

What does he teach? Let me rephrase that, what DID he teach?

General Douglas MacArthur would have agreed with you. Way too many perverts out there

Another creeper bites the dust! Way too many of them lately! Makes you wonder............

This guy belongs nowhere near a school again. I wouldn't want my daughter around a sicko like this.

Just wondering... can you actually HAVE a "balcony window" with a 1st floor apartment? I've always considered balconies something that don't exist until you get to the 2nd floor or higher.

What an idiot. Might as well just say "I'm a pathetic loser. That's why I did it".
