Teacher arrested for sexually assaulting teenage girl in hotel

Police in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, have arrested a 35-year-old high school teacher on suspicion of allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in a hotel last month.

According to police, Yuki Kamei, who teaches at Kagawa Prefectural Zentsuji Daiichi Senior High School in Kagawa Prefecture, invited the girl out for dinner at around 9 p.m. on Sept 12 and then drove her to the hotel in Kurashiki where he sexually assaulted her after kicking her and beating her face.

Police said Kamei has partially denied the charge and quoted him as saying he did not beat the girl.

Meanwhile, local media reported Sunday that in July, Kamei had threatened a former girlfriend who is in her late teens.

Hopefully 'former' teacher.

Meanwhile, local media reported Sunday that in July, Kamei had threatened a former girlfriend who is in her late teens.

So this guy is into girls of that age and can't keep his fists to himself. Hotels should at least be able to ask for ID's for people of questionable age and appearance before allowing them to check in. Things like this will unfortunately continue to happen, and might even pick up pace due to this pandemic.

So, he already had form! Elsewhere, he would’ve been locked up quick smart, or (in the case of doubt) would’ve been told in no uncertain terms that he was on notice and that if there was a next time it’d be curtains.

like a business deal gone wrong.

Doesn't matter if it's a business deal or not. A high school teacher should not be sleeping with their student. You are put in charge of these students and supposed to help guide them. Doesn't matter if it's consent or not, he is still in the wrong.

So, is it safe to assume that the girl was from the same high school? If so, this is even worse than it is being reported here.

Dude is a predator no doubt, and it's times like these that I wished that Japan had a sexual offenders registry!

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Since the reports are using the word "teenager", the girls must not be underage, because that word would take priority in Japanese reporting.

Apparently the guy was arrested for threatening his ex on LINE, and I assume it must take pretty strong language for that to happen.

@nintendogirl

You presume a lot!

FYI teenagers in Japan are legally classified as children.Additionally, the girl would be at a maximum 18 years of age.

As a teacher do you not think that the man should have been more responsible?

Beating a girl into sex, doesn’t seem at all right to me...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Sex offenders take time and effort to get into places where they have easy access to victims. Teachers, doctors, priests etc.always attract a high number of offenders.

The particular man is a danger to women and should receive a very long sentence. And please, Japan, for the love of sanity establish a sex offenders register.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Why did it take police so long to charge him?

He could of had weeks to do the same thing again and ruin more young lives.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Aaaand in a few months we will get article about him not getting prosecuted.

At max he will get suspended for a few weeks from his job and then get transferred and back to teaching.

A large majority of sex offenders in Japan are repeaters, they repeat because there’s close to zero consequences for their actions, and negligible effect on their careers.

As you read my comments, please keep in mind that I do not condone abuse of any kind; however, I am a huge fan of the presumption of innocence.

Presumption of innocence is the job of the court and has no bearing at all on the personal opinions of the people reading the story.

Let me ask you this. If this teacher wanted to take YOUR daughter out to dinner at 9pm, would you say, "Okay, sure" or would you immediately take this accusation into consideration and kick him out of your house?

Or how about this: you are walking on a dark street at night, and suddenly notice that someone is quietly following you. Do you become hyper aware and keep close watch in case that person turns out to be dangerous, or do you assume that person is just someone who is out walking the same as you are?

In other words, do you assume every person is completely innocent and therefore safe, or do you use your own personal judgement of the circumstances and the situation to determine how safe you feel?

Yes, in the end, the court will decide - but it is more than foolish to completely suspend judgment and assume innocence when there is plenty of evidence that someone has committed a crime.

Hopefully 'former' teacher.

You have not been here long enough, guarantee he keeps his job

Allegedly

I salute your respect for the presumption of innocence. In this case, however, it was in the paper and therefore we can proceed on the assumption that it’s not idle rumour.

2 ( +11 / -9 )

P.Smith I’m on your side with this one,in a full democracy people should have the presumption of innocence before get already condemned.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

It is fascinating to see the number of people which do not condem rape/sexual assault but are all for presumption of innocence of the alleged perpetrator thought do not have problem to smash the same presumption of innocence for other alleged crime like alleged false accusation, alleged robbery, alleged physical assault, alleged murder, ... and so on.

Regarding the girls, since some seems to have reed too quickly : the one for the case of sexual assault is called "teenager", the one for the threatening case is said "in her late teens". Not the same person.

Regarding hotel (love hotel or not), it is a place to do lot of things : karaoke, watching movie, shower, play games, cuddle, be intimate, chat, have sex, sleep, run away from family, isolate from rest o the people, ... so people should remember that it is necessary to be straight forward about their intent to have sex with the other one and stop assuming the other one know what they are expecting and agree to it. The worst that can happen is the other one saying : no, which is obviously not going to be a big deal since nobody want to end up with non 100% consensual sexual act.

Wow! Lots of shocking and yet no so shocking comments here. Those of you who read this site know exactly what I'm talking about. Blaming a young girl for being "stupid" as if that were some kind of defense for the teacher's criminal behavior. Don't bother coming at me with claims of how you're not defending him but .... because that's exactly what you're doing. And who cares what she may have been wearing? Since when has that ever truly been a reason for sexual assault? Do you think old women in their night dresses don't get assaulted, or women in burkas, or men in baggy jeans, or babies in diapers? Does that gross you out? It should because it's reality and exactly what you should think of before you even think of suggesting that someone's clothing means they were "asking for it".

As for her being "stupid" and a "slut", what does that even mean? She's a teenager, perhaps flattered by the attentions of an older man who she looked up to. Does that make her stupid or pretty normal? Regardless, how in the world does that justify him assaulting her? What he did is illegal and immoral. He used the power of his position and his physical power to hurt another person.

What exactly makes her a "slut"? Why would someone even say that to begin with? Do you say that same about young men her age who've engaged in sexual relations, assuming she even has? Again, regardless, he's still a criminal who used his physical power and the power or his position to hurt someone.

Many of the comments on this story are just completely disgusting and are the kind of comments that prevent sexual assault victims from going to the police and reporting the crimes against them. I pity the daughters, wives and sisters of some of the above posters because your attitudes about women are frightening.

Stuff like this happens everywhere because there is too much trust in teachers and sports coaches by the kids' parents. If it were a large group of students with chaperones it'd be one thing but this guy is a predator pervert. He needs prison time and never to be allowed to teach again.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I'd " assume " the onus is on the teacher NOT to be with his student at 9:00pm , at night. A teacher is a powerful person to a student, this imbalance in power has been abused. She might have been dumb, a slut ? May be, but from cradle we've been conditioned to listen to and obey our teachers. It's the teacher who shouldn't be caught dead abusing the trust proffered to him by the society and his student. He, also, ought to know that students of that age have hormones running amok are bound to not thinking straight on sexual matters. To abuse that trust, and power- balance is just dead wrong.

A violent pedofile, just what you want in a teacher. I am starting to think it's the training they receive.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Why doesn’t this article say the age of the girl? Is she 14? 16? 18?

Not enough details. Did he really punch her? We’re there bruises etc.?

Of course, they cannot give the girl’s name. But they should not give the teacher’s name either, considering there’s such sketchy information.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

I wonder if it got nasty when she said no?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So correct me wrong if i am wrong the girl is at least 18 not 13

is in her late teens

Generally speaking late teens mean 18 or 19 which would be why we don't see that he is charged with

allegedly sexually assaulting

a minor.

Unfortunately for him he is in Japan so i am sure they will get a conviction after they coerce a confession even if it takes them more than 108 days in jail to do so.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

A lot of presumptions from readers.

The Japanese media reported that the girl was 10代, or a teenager. No age has been given.

There is absolutely no mention that she went to the same school, just that she lived in Okayama. The same goes for the previous late teen that he was dating and was alleged to have threatened.

There is no mention of it being a love hotel. It may or may not have been. It could have been a city hotel. Regardless, it seems that many are not reading the article properly.

The media states that, after dinner, she got in his car whereupon he took her phone, drove to a hotel and forced her into his room before assaulting her.

Regardless of whether some of you believe it was six of one, half a dozen of the other, this teacher deserves the book thrown at him. Hopefully not some out of court settlement, and he moves on to a different school keeping his license. For those laying some of the blame at the mother or girl, stop and think about what you’re saying.

Culture, permissiveness, compensated dating, how teens dress, these are all meaningless. A 35 year old teacher shouldn’t be messing around with teens. If that’s his fancy, get another job.

And although I respect readers opinions, ‘readers’ should ‘read’ articles properly before giving an opinion.

@Shaolin74

Wrong story and wrong newspaper

You are thinking of the 53 year old Teacher in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture

This is a 35 Teacher from Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture

Thing is he a predator maybe, does he like them young and dumb? Yes!

She's not "dumb", she is young and naive, trusting of adults, like all kids her age. There is no need to insult the victim.

Should she have known better, and exercised better judgement? Yes!

Again, there is no need to insult the victim for being young, naive, and trusting adults - children are taught to respect adults, especially teachers, so she was only doing what she was told/expected to do.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Didn't the girl's parents warn her about:

a) meeting men at night - often much older men?

b) having dinner with them, and possible consequences?

c) going elsewhere with him after the meal? In his CAR??

How stupid was she?

How hopeless were her parents?

How wicked and stupid was the teacher?

@ James

Wring story, wrong newspaper? Seriously??? You DID read the news, right? Another example of someone not reading print properly!

https://news.tbs.co.jp/newseye/tbs_newseye4093343.html

Just for you. I’ve lived in Japan for over 20 years. I’m pretty sure I know the difference between Okayama (岡山県) and Shizuoka (静岡県). Please stop proving me right. I welcome criticism, but not even reading the mainstream outlet articles, then compounding it by not reading my post properly is very disappointing.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Also, interesting to see my initial comment downvoted. Is that a commentary on how foreigners think in Japan now? Sad.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Oh, and meant to type “wrong” in my initial post. Just in case the grammar police set the dogs on me.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The story doesnt make too much sense, going for dinner at 9 pm, then going to a love hotel after 10 pm, then sexual assault? It sound more like a business deal gone wrong. Regardless of what, if the guy indeed hit her and assaulted her, deserves some time behind bars

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

The guy is a perv pedo but wtf is wrong with Japanese girls? How stupid do you have to be??? Parents, teach your kids common sense!

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

girl_in_tokyo

In other words, do you assume every person is completely innocent and therefore safe, or do you use your own personal judgement of the circumstances and the situation to determine how safe you feel?

So what do you suggest we do when someone is walking behind us? Whip out a baseball bat and beat anyone behind you with it?
