A teacher in Osaka faces charges after she gave a colleague cream puffs laced with a powerful sedative.

According to police, the incident occurred in June 2012 at an elementary school in Osaka's Hirano Ward. Fuji TV reported Friday that a teacher in her 40s suffered a serious illness after she was given the cream puffs by her 60-year-old colleague. She fell unconscious and had to be taken to hospital.

The school has also filed a criminal complaint against the teacher, police said.

The suspect, who teaches music, was quoted by police as saying, "I thought the way she conducted her lessons was all wrong, and thought it would be great if she were no longer at the school."

Hide Suzuki: It's only one teacher. Are all the teachers in your country top notch with no issue whatsoever ?

Nice try but what has any other country got to do with this? We're here, if we have kids they're probably being educated here and you don't know where other posters are from unless they say so it might well be here too.

It's only one teacher.

It's two. A purportedly bad teacher, and a purported poisoner.

I guess I got the "modified version"... I thought at first I was reading it wrongly ! (I'm "famous" for my "misreadings" but generally, they are funny...!)

What? So it is the older teacher shanking the younger one? Unforgivable.

I thought the way she conducted her lessons was all wrong, and thought it would be great if she were no longer at the school.

Well, she doesn't have to worry about that anymore, does she

We apologize for the mistake.

@sidesmile

You are right. According to Yomiuri and other sources it was the older teacher (music teacher Atsuko Kataoka) who drugged her younger colleague.

The school is Kamikita Elementary School in Hirano Ward.

I like her honesty

According to other news it was the older that drugged the younger. So, which is it?

A fine product of social skooling.

And these are the people who will be teaching morals to your kids? Hahahahahahaha!!!

She was better off kicking her in the minge.

You've got to hand it to Japanese criminals: Their confessions are straightforward!

"Is this a reflection of how educated the educators are?"

No. It's a reflection of how warped this one teacher in her 40s is. Nothing more.

I can understand disliking a co-worker. That happens all the time. But poisoning them? She belongs in a small cage.

Come on, let's look at the positive side - at least the younger teacher took a stand against her sempai instead of meekly standing by. It is even possible the move was quietly supported by a fair number of students.

And as for the idea "There are legitimate means to complain about a senior teacher" I say "Get Real."

Awesome!

wow! i've secretly wished to do this to some annoying colleagues at work but would never actually go through with it. she must really love her students to have done something so stupid.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

more than one year to condemn her? Poor kids she's been teaching during all this time!

Succession planning!

That's a fairly interesting use of the word "thought." She just wanted the old woman out of the way, methinks. Why did it take so long to charge this whacko?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

She most certainly SHOULD face criminal charges, and I hope in this case it's not just a 'suspension' or some such silly sentence. Well, I guess it's not as socially acceptable as slapping around girls in your Judo club or bullying a kid until he hangs himself, so she'll probably be charged.

“I thought the way she conducted her lessons was all wrong, and thought it would be great if she were no longer at the school.”

Say what!!! So, you poisoned her with a potentially lethal dose of sedatives? Is this a reflection of how educated the educators are?
