Police in Tokyo said Thursday they have arrested a 24-year-old man who works at a hospital, on suspicion of taking voyeuristic images of a woman’s breasts while she was having an electrocardiogram.

Police said Terumasa Maruyama, who was arrested on Wednesday, has admitted to the allegation and quoted him as saying he couldn’t control his sexual desire, Kyodo News reported.

According to police, the incident occurred at Hakujikai Memorial General Hospital in Adachi Ward at around 1 p.m. on July 14. Maruyama, who works in the radiography department, was giving the woman in her 20s an electrocardiogram, with her face covered by a towel. During the procedure, he used his smartphone to film her breasts. Police said the woman was unaware of what Maruyama was doing.

However, on Aug 15, Maruyama filmed another woman in her 20s during an electrocardiogram but the woman saw him with the smartphone in his hand and she consulted with hospital officials.

The hospital contacted police. Police subsequently questioned Maruyama and confiscated his smartphone on which they found videos of several different women whom he had filmed during electrocardiograms.

They only want to take cardiogram not picture, in case he forget about it.

And this is why some women ask for female doctors and nurses, especially for required routine checkup procedures like electrocardiograms. It's already uncomfortable enough, but then you have to worry that your doctor or nurse is a perv who will try to sneak naked photos of you. Shameful behavior - amazing he even got into the position. Hope he pays for it and becomes a lesson for future "would-be doctors" who "can't control their sexual desires".

he couldn’t control his sexual desire

This should be his offense not his defense.

The simple fact that there is no need to cover the face of the patient during the procedure should be enough to raise some red flags, it would understandable for some patients not to know this, but I find it difficult to think nobody (nurses, doctors, etc.) found out this extremely unusual way to conduct the electrocardiogram.

sue him, the hospital, and press charges lady

Another deviant FFS. How many more loonies will be influenced by easy access to pornography and the chance to make money by selling obscene photos of female victims?

If you can’t trust a med tech, nurse, or doctor, who can you trust?

Another deviant FFS.

It seems that there are many these days.

I assume the patients had at least a bra on or some covering. Really common sense to have a nurse or second person attend to prevent this nuisance.

No, usually you don’t have a bra on for an ECG.

Why was her face covered with a towel? Obviously to allow this perv to do his thing but I’m surprised the woman didn’t think it was weird.

Hmm wonder where he got his idea from

Usually woman can wear their bras unless they have wire in them.

I heard that dodgy technicians give questionable advice to suit their cheap thrills.

Best to have a friend present as a witness.

That's the procedure in Japan. Covering the face during this exam. I was told by a Japanese physician that this is done often as it was to allow the female patient to preserve her modesty.

"Can a woman wear a bra during an ECG?

"You will need to remove your upper clothing so that electrodes can be attached to your chest, arms and legs. Wearing a separate top with trousers or a skirt can allow easy access to the chest. Underwire in a bra can interfere with the ECG reading – you may be asked to remove it before the test."

No, that is not how the procedure is done at all, there is nothing about the patient eyes being covered that preserve her modesty, for that a towel is put on top of her body after the electrodes are in place, the face has absolutely no reason for being covered.
